And I don't mean microwaving some crap, or making some Mac & Cheese. I'm sure a lot of you do, but do you like it? Growing up me and my dad did most of the cooking because my mom sucked at cooking, and she didn't put any love into it, she just wanted to get it over with, like it was a chore. However I enjoy it. It's kind of like when I was a kid and I liked to build models, Legos, etc. Except when you're done cooking, you get to eat tasty food.

So does anybody else like to cook, and if so what is your best dish? And then give me the recipe or I'll shoot you in the knee-cap.

I love to cook, but I kinda suck at it right now. I think I just need more practice, and better recipes to follow. When I'm not hosting a dinner party, I usually cook boring stuff like the recipes at campbellskitchen.com...but when I am hosting, I make stuff that I know is good, like recipes from my mom. The recipes from Rachel Ray's 30 min meals are good for being fast yet somewhat complex (well, not all of course).

My signature dish is an outrageously good Pad Thai, but sorry I am taking that recipe to the grave! :P

I've never taken a recipe from Rachael Ray, but I do a lot of stuff I see Emeril and Bobby Flay do. Plus I have all of the different types of Emeril's "Essence", Regular, Asian, Italian, Cajun, and so forth. I also have Bobby Flay's book "Boy Meets Grill" and I cook some stuff out of that.

My best stuff is Italian though. I make a great lasagna, but my last girlfriend didn't like ricotta cheese, which is in all good lasagna. So I had to make a crappy lasagna version while I was with her. It was basically a layer of lasagna noodles, then the sauce (just browned hamburger meat and tomato sauce) then mozzerella chese, and layer a few times to repeat. She wouldn't even eat garlic, green pepper, and onion, which is something I feel is needed for the sauce.

My specialties are Texas type stuff. Steak, BBQ, Chili, and so forth.

I make a pretty mean Eggplant Parmegean, Lasagna (the real kind, not what my ex liked) Meatloaf, burgers, omelets, and cabbage rolls.

Yeah, I can see how Emeril and Bobby probably appeal more to guys...what with all the grilling and BBQ-ing and meaty-ness! I do like Emeril's Essences, they make seasoning really easy.

I covet garlic and onion!! I never understood how people could not like them.

Pretty much everything I make has garlic in it. Bell pepper and onion I use often also. Whether it be tacos, spaghetti, soups and stews, whatever. Not only do I put garlic in most things, I usually throw in some garlic salt too.

You said Pad Thai is your best dish, I can't cook any type of Asian food. It never comes out tasting right. I've tried all the sauces and cookware. I have Hoisin sauce, and whatever other type of spice/sauce every recipe for Asian food I get. I bought a Wok too. But no matter what, it never tastes right. I go to restaurants for my Asian food.

Asian food is definitely challenging, it took me a long time to perfect the Pad Thai...and that's pretty much the only Asian dish I can do properly (and I'm half Asian too!). I suggest trying to make Sweet and Sour Pork, eggrolls/springrolls, or some type of Asian soup since I've found these to be somewhat easier to make.

Care to share your lasagna or eggplant parmesan recipes? I'd love to attempt them. :)

Haha, fair enough. Though I simply cannot share the Pad Thai, I will try to think of something else I make well. And although I do not eat meat normally, I will definitely try the meatloaf! How long and at what temp. do you cook it for?

Edit: LOL! Okay, sounds good. Are you really drunk on a Monday night?

375 for 45 for 45-55 minutes. But the most important part is the recipe. If you read the one I posted before I deleted it, just disregard. Like I said it was a bastard child of my Spaghetti and Meatloaf recipes. Don't try that crap by any means.

And don't worry about your Pad Thai recipe, I'm convinced I can't cook any Asian food. Iron Chef Morimoto himself couldn't teach me how to make fried rice.

Omigosh that made me laugh so hard!

I'm off to bed right now, but I'll be sure to check back sometime tomorrow to see if you've posted your recipes. Or you can PM them if you want. Thanks! :)

                        Mako and rice:
Marinate Mako shark in terriyaki sauce for 8-12 hours.
Grill on medium or bake at 350 until done.

Serve on a bed of white rice.

                        Simple and delicious.

I can cook spagetti lol. Does anyone have any tips for that? I want to make it more flavorful.....the only thing I know how to do is to add some olive oil and salt into the water for boiling....and then prego as the sauce. It always comes out boring tasting.

I also know how to make Shake n' bake, lol.

I'm just learning to cook, actually. I baked my very first meatloaf the other day, in fact. Came out pretty good, if a little on the rare side. Will have to leave it in there a little while longer next time, maybe on higher heat.

I also make a pretty good chicken curry, although it's a bit milder and sweeter than what I'm used to. In the future, I'll have to look for a recipe that isn't super-fire-hot, but has a little bit more of a kick.

For spaghetti, chop up some onion, green pepper, and garlic. Saute it in a little olive oil, and when that's done, add your sauce to it. I also recommend making your own meatballs, but you can buy those frozen kind, and they aren't bad. Put them in the sauce for 30 minutes or so to thaw them out. And then add some spices to it. Garlic salt, and Italian seasoning, I like the Emeril's Italian Essence. Also when the spaghetti noodles are cooked and drained, toss a little olive oil in it, so it won't stick. And whatever you do, serve the noodles and sauce seperate. Let people put as much sauce they want on their pasta.

My mom made the worst spaghetti. She would just brown ground beef, pour some Ragu sauce on it and bring it to heat. Then she would just mix the spaghetti and sauce all together in a big bowl. It was so bland, and there wasn't enough sauce for the amount of noodles. It was total crap.

I put herbs and spices, green or red peppers and mushrooms in my pasta sauce. Occasionally I use sausage for meat instead of ground beer or meatballs.
