They should go back to the old atari games for insperation: Pitfall, Space Invaders, Centipede, Galaga; these games would allow the movies writers to let their imaginations run wild.

Dig Dug.... could have some great scenes with the guys getting blown up.... But what the hell was Dig Dug looking for underground?? I know that he always got a piece of cake, or an eggplant or pea pod... but never really understood the goal of the game. I loved it all the same though.

If I remember correctly, the object of each level was to blowup all the monsters. He's an underground monster exterminator, I think that could actually work.

Ooo.. I got another, how about Defender, that would be a cool movie.

CarnEvil! It would be cool IF they get the right people to make it.

              Tetris!

Zelda's always been at the top of my game-to-movie list. I'd only be concerned about finding the right person to play Link. I would accept nothing but casting perfection!

And "Doom" just came out. The Rock was emphasizing how close the movie is to the game (being shot in FPS), but the fans don't seem to like it... Are they making one for Halo?

Call of Duty - it could follow 3 main characters, one in each theater of war. I World War II movie on that scale would blow away every other war movie, but it would need to be directed by Spielberg. After his work on Band of Brothers I'd say he'd be the go-to guy for the job.

An animated movie would be much safer. Look what they did to Street Fighter, Alone In The Dark, and Final Fantasy: The Spirits Within into live action: It ended up sucking bad.

with the Lord of The Rings guy directing the Halo movie, it's going to be a hit for sure.

A movie based on Pac-Man would be quite weird. Pac-Man has no plot whatsoever.

I think that any new movie based on a VG would have to be animated (anime style would probably be best, or like Advent Children). At least that way, it's just voice acting you have to worry about.
The problem is that most games today have stories that go anywhere from twenty to eighty hours. It's awfully tough to cram that into a movie two to four hours long and maintain the integrity of the game's story.

I believe it's going to be Produced by Peter Jackson, not directed.

Back on topic, I think Starcraft would make a good movie, just think starship troopers meets aliens. Or even Warcraft. But it needs to be handled correctly.
