I love An American Tail! Virtually anything Don Bluth directs is pure solid gold. Unfortunately sequels to his films that he doesn't direct usually become complete horse crap (see Land Before Time series).

If you enjoyed An American Tail, be sure to check out some of his other movies. Disney's Robin Hood, The Secret of NIMH, Anastasia, and Titan AE are just a few of his best. He's currently working on a Dragon's Lair movie based on the 1980's video game which he also made.

first I'd like to give a nice hello to everyone here and to say I look forward to posting at this forum.

        Anyway, my question is
do any of you guys remember An American Tail, the animated movie that came out in 1986?

I personally thought, when I was younger, that this was one of the better animated movies out there, especially with the fact that Madeline Kahn and Dom Deluise were voices in it.

personally i thought the best one was Fivel goes west

Yes, Iron Giant is good, but it has nothing to do with Don Bluth.

I remember that I didn't care for the first one much, but maybe that was just because I was too young. I did like Fievel Goes West, though. I even remember being in either the first or second row in the theatre to see it, having my own Seinfeld moment.

I liked Land Before Time too, but I never saw any of the 100+ sequels. Seeing how they were mass produced, I don't really care to.

Is that they one where they're foxes, or is there another one I'm not remembering? If so, I use to be addicted to that movie. It was one of those that I watched over and over again without tiring.

That's the one! Bluth made that back when he worked for Disney. If you pay attention, it's definitely got early elements of his signature animation style.

I remember renting the original American Tail movie back in the day, and seeing Fievel goes West in the theatres.
A friend of me had a huge talking Fievel that worked like Teddy Ruxpin.

i love when Anastasia says "do you really think i am princess." "well then why are you bossing me around." i have all of the anastasia cllectible figures and the toy music box too. i have music box sitting next to a cinderella snowcone mug from disney on ice because i know how to get a snow cone mug when i don;t want to go to disney on ice. you wait until it;s ending and the crowd is leaving and then you can slip in and out. but i love the snow cone mugs they have lids.
