I swear you can find anything at Flea Markets...

This past Saturday I went and found 3 plastic bag fulls of movies to bring home. All $1.00 VHS tapes, I really raked them in. They were:

    E.T.
    Aladdin 2: return of Jaffar
    G.I. Joe: The Movie
    Inner Space
    Billy Madison
    Muppet Babies
    TMNT: Cowabunga Shredhead
TMNT: Jungle Turtles? Definitely the original turtles though
    Monster In My Pocket
    Day of the Dead
    Dawn of the Dead
    Encino Man

(starting to get harder to name all of them off the top of my head)

Benny & Joon (Starring Johnny Depp)

How bout week before last though, I found these:

    TMNT: Sky Turtles (BK edition)
TMNT: Invasion of the Turtle Snatchers (BK edition)
    2 Magic School Bus tapes
    GI Joe
    Aladdin
    like 6 X-Men tapes

Its so much easier to do this from home... tell ya what, I'll update ya later.

They have an awesome Flea Market in Hartville, OH. I'm thinking about going again this summer. Flea markets are the best places to find "Retro junk".

Because of e-bay it's happening far less often but over the years I've gotten some good albums cheap at yard sales. The last time I found good stuff was a couple of years ago one Sunday afternoon a guy one street over from me had a whole bunch of albums he was selling cheap. He had pretty much every single Ventures album. I got the second volume of Bob Dylan's Greatest Hits from him for a dollar, I thought that was a good deal for a double album.

Another time I got two Pink Floyd albums for two dollars, Dark Side of the Moon and Animals. The copy of Dark Side still had it's two posters and in good shape.

I don't think eBay is a flea market killer

                Here's why:

                -Flea Markets have no S&H
-Flea Markets offer the fun of the hunt for the rare and unusual.

The last really good thing I got from a flea market was a garbage ball full of Sega Master System games for rather cheap. This was a brilliant find considering that my SMS game collection is one of my favourites.

The only good retro finds I've bought from Goodwill in the past months has been a novelization of Goldeneye from 1995, Kelsey Grammer's autobiography So Far... and the Wayne's World soundtrack.

Shit!! In that case, I'm taking a huge wad of cash with me next time I go to the flea market for Sega Genesis crap. It's MY favorite collection... :P

I went to a flea market called Jamie's Flea Market last Wednesday and I found a Star Wars Plo Koon figure for $5 and a deal on Hot Wheels cars (I'm a collector) six for $5.

Here's a picture of Plo Koon for any non-Star Wars fans who may not know who he is. He is a Jedi:

I wish the flea market near my house was as good as what I'm hearing from this thread. But I've been to similar places before that has all sorts of "Retro Junk", pun not intended.

Monday I'll be posting pics of some of the stuff I got at my local flea market.

But there's more, I swear the flea market here is freakin huge. For only 7 bucks a table, there's hundreds of them, its a huge deal every weekend. Tons of people, its been a hugely successful flea market for years. You can get anything from retro hard-to-find cartoons to SMS games, nintendo games, fucken nintendo SYSTEMS, all that. Anyone looking to expand their retro gaming collection, go to Play N Trade. If you don't know of one close by, try looking it up. I'm getting a beautiful Atari from there tomorrow for only 30 bucks, looks like the machine just came out of the box, not a scratch on it, true mint condition. They also got a NICE selection of Atari games for sale, so cheap.

But one of our friends here at Retro Junk is helping me get a nice collection of episodes of Camp Candy so I'm hooking him up with that beautiful Atari system for hooking me up.

So yall know, if you help me out, you get done RIGHT.

hehe, with that said, anyone know where I can find 'Rick Moranis in Gravedale High' ???

Its a cartoon that used to come on either before or after Captain N on Saturday mornings. I'm trying to find something of it, I have nothing. Think anyone can help me? This'll complete my old saturday morning line up - so the rewards can be great depending on what you can hook me up with.

Listen I don't know about you guys but tomorrow is Saturday and I'm looking forward to going to the flea market for like 4 hours and getting a couple bag fulls tapes and maybe some other misc. retro items I might come across.

                                    Anyone else going out?

I haven't been to a flea market in years - the only time I went was with my aunt and my cousin, and I was too young to really appreciate the great finds that were there. My friend, just the other day, told me about a flea market that she and her family goes to sometimes and invited me to go with them sometime this summer. I definitely will take them up on that invite!

And congrats on your finds YoJoe83 - I think the Muppet Babies was a good find, because they are hard to find on VHS and are not officially out on DVD yet. Good luck with your future endeavors!

Do you suppose they'd have any cartoons from the '90s? I can't find the Chip 'N Dale Rescue Rangers DVDs anywhere (Wal-Mart, K-Mart, etc.).
