misspiggy 6 years 9 months ago Posts: 1470	I am in love with root beer so I am always looking for a new kind I haven't tried yet. A personal favorite is Hanks brand, it has a distinct vanilla after taste that sets it aside from the other root beers. I like that it comes in a glass bottle too. When I was little my grandparents use to buy us sarsaparilla root beer that came in a brown can with a cowboy walking into a saloon on the front. It was cheap and delicious, sometimes the cheaper the root beer, the better. Another favorite is homemade root beer. I have never made it myself but the Amish have roadside stands during the summer and it is absolutely awesome. What brand of root beer do you recommend?

Sunni 6 years 9 months ago Posts: 429	Yeah, root beer is awesome, especially with a big pastrami sandwich and a pickle. Root beer floats are great too. I used to make them every summer and stick them in one of those ice mugs so the ice cream wouldn't melt right away. Screw the real beer. It's root beer for me all the way!
	Recipe for nostalgia: Mix 80's and 90's culture. Stir in some good memories. Add a dash of reflection. Mixture should now taste bittersweet. Shake well and enjoy!

And at the end of the tour you went into this place that looked like an old saloon, and you could go up to the bar and sample all of their different root beers out of shot glasses, then order the one you liked the best, and they served it up in a big frothy mug. Then they had a gift shop with all kinds of root beer candies, root beer to go, and root beer barbecue sauce, which was really good.

Mom and Dad used to pick it up at a wholesale place, along with White Rock tonic water. Apparently they still make it, but I haven't seen any in years. IBC Root Beer is very tasty stuff that, to the best of my knowledge, only comes in bottles. Dunno why, but that seems to enhance the flavor. Barq's is pretty good, too.

I think I will do a little search of some root beer barbecue sauce as well. Funky Guy: I tried Goya brand ginger beer 2 weeks ago and hated it. Maybe other brands would be better, I don't know but for now I give a thumbs down to ginger beer. I have seen home kits to brew root beer but have yet to buy one. I am penny pinching now until it gets warmer and I don't have to pay for fuel. video jukebox: I found a store that still sells sarsaparilla! Weis/Mr. Z store sells it. Same can design as 25 years ago too.

NickRules 6 years 8 months ago Posts: 4966 Globally Banned	I never understood how people actually liked root beer. I used to think it was OKAY, But ONLYYYYY if its in a glass bottle. But a couple months ago I was eating a root beer float at my Grandma's house and I threw up because of it....I think the foam didn't sit well in my stomach. Anyways now I totally hate root beer, so much that when I buy Jelly Belly's and come across a root beer one I spit it out, BLECH! I like ginger ale though

I also like the Trader Joe's root beer, but I can't remember it. Diet root beer is the best diet soda, I've discovered.
