parrothead1983 5 years 8 months ago Posts: 420	What I'm trying to say is that the SNES Super Punch-Out!! protagonist is considered by many to be nameless because: \|1.\| Players enter their names without a default name. \|2.\| The game's instruction manual in all regions don't call him "Little Mac" nor any other name. \|3.\| His appearance in the GCN version of Fight Night Round 2 is considered by many to be uncanon, because Nintendo wasn't involved in anything other than licensing the SNES boxer for use in EA's boxing game. When I told about the Wii Shop Channel's details about Super Punch-Out!! to FryGuy64, who is a Nintendo historian and founder of the Nintendo Database, he believes it's a retcon. He also said "Oh well. Nintendo makes another confusing mess that we'll be arguing about for years to come "

Fight Night Round 2 really kicked it off by putting "Mac" on his shorts. But as a rule, only the protagonist of the NES Punch-Out!! games was named Little Mac, and he's the one coming back in the Punch-Out!! for the Wii. If Nintendo and Next Level decided to make a sequel to the Wii game, then I hope it would be the remake of the SNES game.

Mezase Master 5 years 8 months ago Posts: 7419	This game isn't a remake of the NES Punch-Out!!, so why should the sequel be a remake of the SNES one? Also, Nintendo Power gave an overview of the game's history, and in the Brawl part it says that he returned to his NES design, dropping his makeover in Super Punch-Out!!. Also, shut up.

When Nintendo of America was trying to make as many things in video games friendly enough to the young audience during the NES era, they renamed him "Soda Popinski"; however, one of his quotes is a reference to drunk-driving. Although he probably never practiced driving at all, it doesn't make as much sense for him as it does when he is "Vodka Drunkenski". Look at Shun Di from the Virtua Fighter series, he uses the fighting style called Zui Quan (or "Drunken Fist", which the Sega divisions outside of Japan ignored changing it. Even though Zui Quan is about imitating people that are drunk, it's still associated with drinking alcohol.
