I was watching this documentary about the late Hunter S. Thompson, who Bill Murray portrayed in the film "Where the Buffalo Roam", and Murray said that he called up Johnny Depp and told him that once you get into the role of Hunter Thompson the mannerisms will appear in your acting throughout the rest of your career. After that I started going back and watching Bill Murray movies with new eyes. It makes sense, look how much Johnny Depp's Jack Sparrow has obvious Hunter Thompson mannerisms.
