    Are horror films still scary?

I haven't made my mind up, really.

You can see what they are trying to do with the whole psychological thing, but, is it scary?

    Is this a trick question?

Oh yes, and if you want a really fucked up movie that is more shocking then your average "Captivity" and "Hostel", there's the 1986 Spanish sick flick "In a Glass Cage" (a.k.a. Tras El Cristal) which is about a ex-nazi pedophile that sexually assaults kids, tortures them and sometimes even murders them. After realizing what he has done, he tries to commit suicide leaving him only paralyzed in a iron lung which he calls his "Glass cage", a former boy that was raped long ago by this perverted freak seeks revenge on the man that molested him long ago by being a male nurse and wants to kill him so he can follow in his footsteps of molesting, torturing and killing kids.

the only horror movie that made me jump sencie i was in middle school was the remake of The Amityville Horror with ryan renolds. but other than that there just not scarry any more.. they dont have the psycho factor mixed with the gore and violence like they used to..

Well "Devil's Rejects" was a nice delightful horror action modern western comedy that nicely mixes all genres with a dash of 70's grindhouse cinema and dark humor.
