These filmmakers are not pouring their blood sweat and tears into making an entertaining film just so some asshole will watch it without smoking a blunt first.

I think you mean William Randolph Hearst.

I was watching a documentary that said that the original inspiration was Howard Hughes. I guess they changed it for one reason or another.

I guess I didn't really explain it fully.

Lemme guess....you say the interview was on the History channel, you don't remember what the show was called but you do remember a couple of the commercials that were on during the show and you're providing future evidence?

Fine, don't believe it then. It is true though.

It was on that "Ovations" channel I think. As a Howard Hughes fan, it stuck in my mind.

                Rosebud...

Yeah, it was going to be about Howard Hughs and then they changed it to be about William Randolph Heasrt or vice versa.

Anyway, the single most impressive movie for me is All About Lily Chou-Chou. It's a great movie about Japanese school life and has one of the best soundtracks ever by Salyu. It's a pretty dark movie though.

I think it has been released in the states because Tarantino used one of Salyu's songs on Kill Bill in the scene where the bride gets the new katana. An "as heard in Kill Bill" sticker was on the front of my Lily Chou-Chou soundtrack CD.

                Yeah I hated Kill Bill...

I like the part in Kill Bill 2, where she goes to Okinawa and the guy is surprised to see an American.

15% of the population of the entire island is American, for fuck's sake.

I think John Water's mustache should have its own movie.

I was most impressed with Seven Samurai. It has the most perfect blend of action and emotion a film should.

Tim Burton Presents: The Misadventures of John Water's Moustache

I always wondered if he wasn't able to grow a full moustche, so that is why he had the thin-right-above-the-lip thing. Only he can pull it off.

I'm sure he can grow a full mustache. If there was any person on the planet who would think it would be a really good idea to just grow a little pencil-line mustache, it'd be John Waters.

Fuck, I thought "Team America" was amazing because of the puppetry (then again, so were the Ninja Turtles movies). But I think "Fearless" gets my vote for most impressive film overall.

I watched Silent Running for the first time this week. I'm an MST3K fan and this is almost required watching if you become a die hard fan or just get interested in the KTMA era.

It totally blew my mind. I interpreted it as a premeditation of the Global Warming movement. Most people will disagree with me and go with the worn out "Early 70s Hippie Movie" argument. It's my new favorite film and the lack of fan material shocks me.
