People are becoming more hostile to sitcoms? It's sad. Most sitcoms are better than that reality crap we have today. We do, however, need more shows like Boy Meets World and Grounded For Life. The War at Home and Yes, Dear are great by the way. I guess sitcoms don't appeal to this new generation, which unfoutionately I am a part of.

I don't know about needing MORE sitcoms....I wouldn't go as far as to say that. We do need better quality sitcoms though. Scrubs and Everybody Loves Raymond are decent and can muster a chuckle out of me....but for some reason I just can't find Boy Meets World or Will and Grace funny. Grounded for Life is funny, but we don't get it here. :? One channel that is putting out the best shows on TV is F/X. Unfortunately, we also don't get it here. I highly recommend Rescue Me, It's Always Sunny in Philadelphia, and Starved. :D

Actually, I think sitcoms are making a comback. "My Name is Earl", "Everybody Hates Chris" and "Arrested Developement" are all very critically acclaimed and are doing well in the ratings and "Malcolm in the Middle" has been going on strong for six years now. However, I think the age of the laugh track is about to pass, I think we the viewers really don't need to be told when and when not to laugh or feel emotion.

Everybody Loves Raymond is by far my favorite, but the only reason why is because the show depicts my family so well, it's scary sometimes. A big draw to sitcoms is relating to people, some shows don't relate as well as others. Back in the day when Roseanne was on tv, it was a huge hit because a lot of working class Americans saw a little of themselves on the tv. The more true to home a sitcom is, the more successful it becomes.

I haven't seen "My Name is Earl" or "Everybody Hates Chris" yet...they were both running commercials while I was in the states but hadn't started showing. Both looked hilarious. I think the difference is that the writing is so completely different from what I usually think of when I think 'sitcom'. It's more innovative and the writing team use more complicated jokes and scenarios, rather than the usual drivel you get from shows like Belushi's. I forgot to mention one that I really like....the Bernie Mac show is pretty damn good too. Malcolm in the Middle is awesome.

Haven't seen those either. :? Although, I've heard Curb Your Enthusiam is awesome.
