Maybe someone can help me out with this . My parents recorded some sesame street stuff off a record for me when I was a lot younger, and the playlist is as follows:

    Sesame street theme song
song that starts out "kats have kittens, doggies have pups...."
I'm a little unclear about the order for the others. there's one that has thurl ravenscroft singing, it's aabout the body parts we have that come in pairs of 2: "I've got two eyes, one, two, they're both the same size, one, two...."
A version of rubber duckie not sung by Ernie
the closing theme to sesame street
    "somebody come and play"

then, there's "Jelly man kelly" by james taylor without the kids singing background and "Be with me" by carole king. That one is a version of the song that sounds different than the one on the album, even if it's just slightly. My theory is it was a sesame street record featuring guests that had been on the show, but I'm not sure.

If anyone could give me information about either of these, I would be eternaly grateful, since they're both burned in my memory.

Hmm...yeah, but I really wanted to see if I could find which specific albums these were off...because it just wouldn't be the same if it wasn't that really early stuff.....

That version of Somebody Come and Play on the cd, is it by a male duet? Cuz that's the GOOD one. It was sung while footage of 2 white tiger cubs playing in snow was shown. Never mind. I just heard the preview on Amazon.com, and it's by some kids who can't carry a tune. I guess the GOOD version is copywritten by somebody else, and the CTW can't get it for their collection, so they settled on this bastardized version.

odd, though, that's the version I was talking about. I never really cared for it either.

Okay, I found the one about James taylor and Carly Simon:

"IN HARMONY- A SESAME STREET RECORD. 1980 Sesame Street Records/Warner Bros. Artists include George Benson, the Doobie Brothers, Al Jarreau, Bette Midler, Linda Ronstadt, Carly Simon, Lucy Simon, James Taylor, Libby Titus and more. "

still not quite sure about the other. The songs could have been from "The Sesame Street Book And Record", because that mast likely has them all, except the theme song is not reprised at the end, but that could have been from somewhere else.

I remember Ernie's rubber ducky song being sung on the show by Little Richard, if that helps you. I also remember him scaring the crap out of me as a youngster.

I always liked "I Dance Myself to Sleep." Those sheep carrying Bert out on his bed... hilarious!
