    Hi

Do you have any particular items in your collections of Video Games, Toys, Books, Videos et al of which you consider the "crown jewels" of your collections?

I mean; Items you cherish so much for various reasons, whether they may be:

Things you got for special birthdays or Christmases
    The first you got
    Favorites
    Souveniers from particularly good vacations
Things worth a lot of money

I can name some items I own of which I consider the "crown jewels" of those collections:

I cherish my plush Sonic and Tails so much because they are 2 of my particular favorite toys of my childhood, plus they are toys of my 2 favorite video game characters

I cherish my Sonic Adventure 2 10th anniversary package (came with the Sonic Adventure 2 Dreamcast game) so much, because it is a big part of Sonic history

I cherish my Mega Drive and Sonic 1 game so much, since they are my favorite ever system and game

My Bomberman Tournament Game Boy Advance game is something I also cherish so much because it was my last French Francs purchase before France ditched that currency in favor of the Euro

My Steel Battalion Xbox games AND their 40 button controller are a MAJOR part of my collection due to what they are AND high collector's value

Another video game I cherish so much is my copy of Faselei! on the Neo Geo Pocket, because it was the first thing I EVER used PayPal to buy.

My most cherished DVD is "Muppets From Space" , due to it being the first DVD I ever got

      This is a good topic!

I cherish my "The New Adventures of Winnie the Pooh" VHS tapes I found at garage sales this summer because it was my favorite childhood show. I also cherish my collection of Winnie the Pooh stuff also.

I also cherish my Berenstain Bears VHS from the 1986 series, and I also cherish my Care Bears. And my Fraggle Rock DVDs.
You cannot leave the magic - Down at Fraggle Rock!

Anyone who sings like that should be dragged out into the street and shot - Garfield

I'm not messy. I'm organizationally challenged ! -Garfield

Oh boy, that's a hard question.

On the top of my head, here are my two favorite pieces:

I cherish my original Walt Disney Alice in Wonderland Movie theatre poster. It is HUGE and the color are still extremely vivid, especially for a poster that is more than 40 years old.

I also cherish my prototype Return Of The Jedi large proof sheet. It shows the packaging for Logray and Chief Chirpa, only four (4) examples known to exist.

              Let's keep this thread rollin'!

                  Tough question.

My original sports card collection is very important to me. I would never sell those. Alot of beat up 85 Topps baseball cards, 86 Topps football, some hockey cards given to me by a friend (hockey cards were considered rare, didnt see many of them back then).

My original GI Joe collection (whats left of it). I lost a ton of them, maybe 3/4 of what I had. Missing, buried in the front yard, etc. I have about 12-15 left intact. If I had to grab a handful of stuff in a fire, those would be one of the first things I get. And the little fold out catalogs, showing all the toys for the year, those are important.

Dennis the Menace and Joey doll I got in a giftstore in Barstow, California (in 88, 89). Those have got sentimental value.

McDonalds Happy meal toys. Dont have alot of them, but I'm glad I still have them.

Of my album collection I would say:

Amon Duul II - Tanz Der Lemminge original German pressing (Alot of vinyl collectors would probably step over their own mothers to own this, I see it go for a few hundred dollars on auction sites, I got it at a Salvation Army for 49 cents.)

Frank Zappa and the Mothers of Invention - Freak Out (Canadian mono pressing with mixes of songs very different to the stereo versions. I also have a couple of mono Beatles albums with unique mixes, a mono Jimi Hendrix 45, a mono Yardbirds album and a mono pressing of the Doors' Strange Days.)

The Who - The Ox (Like all my other collection crown jewls I got lucky being in the right place at the right time. The Ox is a UK only compilation of songs the Who's bass player John Entwistle wrote between 1966 and 1970 released on the Who's Track record label.)

                        I have 2 crown jewls:

In my Star Wars collection, my prised Figure is my 2006 vintage style Greedo. 'Cause, In a world of action figures with too many excessories, most of wich get lost, Greedo only came with 1. His blaster. And it fits perfactly into the holster! Also, the figure has 14 points of articulation! It's the ideal figure!

My other one is from my Godzilla figures collection, my 6 inch vinyl Bandai creations Godzilla 54.
This is the american virsoin of this figure, it looks real majestic and the color sceme is beautiful! It's superior to the japanies virsion (go to vinylmaddness and see for yourself www.vinylmaddness.com). And lets face it, without Godzilla himself, you have no Godzilla collection.

Holy Crap HarryReems!!! Now we have something to talk about. I have a huge plastic baskets in my parents' shed full of "My Little Ponies" that I collected as a kid. I will in no way give them up. I think your collection puts mine to shame though, LOL! I'd get these toys for Christmas, Birthdays, from my parents' trips, etc. I will in no way part with them, as they are too priceless.

Other crowned jewels of my retro collectibles are my entire Journey and Toto CD collection, my Brat Pack DVD's, my original Nintendo that I got when I was in first grade along with all the NES games I have (favorites are Tecmo Super Bowl, Double Dragon 1 & 2, and The Dream Master). I also have my big white Christmas bear from 1987 sitting on my guest room bed and a "Footloose" poster hanging on my wall. My Glow Worm, Cabbage Patch Doll, Pound Puppy, Popple, Fluppy Dog and My Buddy Doll are all out in my parents' shed never to be given away.

Well, I had the pink Pony Castle also, but some jerko threw it down a hill, then it floated down the river.

My most prized possesion is my Plaid Colored Hat With Spikes from Hot Topic.I found it at a thrift store for $5.00.Another one would be all my PS2 games and a weird sandstone sculpture I found at a antique shop.

                                      Let's see...

                                      Video Games:

-Sega Genesis Model 3 Console (Works fine)
-Sega Genesis Model 2 Console (Doesn't work so great because of poor video output (not as easy a fix as a new RF switch or A/V cable), but it plays fine. It was the same model I had as a kid so it has some sentimental value.)

-Toe Jam and Earl (in a case with a custom insert I made because I bought it loose and it is a game that deserves to have a case. Ironically, I used the case from Toe Jam and Earl: Panic On Funkotron as a base for the case I made.)

-Sonic The Hedgehog 2 (Complete in case with instructions; it was the first Sega Genesis game I owned but the version I got didn't come with a box. It was just the cartridge and instructions but it was a new console. Weird, huh? ^_^)

                                      Toys:

-Loose Darth Vader Action Figure from 1997 POTF II Collection (Mentioned in another post; includes lightsaber)

-Loose Raphael Action Figure (No accessories but hey, I destroyed the toy as a kid so it was great to find it again at a second-hand shop for $3)

-POTF II Millennium Falcon (Bought this with money I saved mowing lawns but it was worth it)

DVDs (some may say VHS's are better but for preservation of some of my favorite films, I prefer DVD's and yes I do take fairly good care of my collection. Very few scratches...^_^):

-Sonic SatAM (at last after 12 years!!)

-Star Wars Trilogy (Special Edition, but I'd like to own the original version DVDs as well)

-Original TMNT movies 1, 2, and 3 (Classics!)

-The Secret of Nimh (Darkest film of my childhood...)

-Robin Hood (Furries and fox lovers unite!!)

-The Lion King (The first sad movie I ever saw but as always it had a happy ending. Scar was the best villain. He was so deliciously evil...>:-D)

-The Fox and The Hound (FOXES!!)

-Dumb and Dumber ("Wanna hear the most annoying sound in the world? EHHHHHHHHHEEEEHHHHHHHHHH!!!!!!!!!!!!";)

-Tommy Boy ("Fat Guy In A Little Coat..." RIP Chris Farley.)

-Happy Gilmore ("The price is wrong, bitch!";)

-Billy Madison ("It's Nudie Magazine Day!!";)

-Scarface ("Me, I want what's coming to me. The world, chico, and everything in it.";)

-The Matrix ("He is The One.";)

-South Park: Bigger, Longer, and Uncut (South Park is one of my favorite shows and I can't believe they only made one movie. I guess the creators thought of it as a one time deal and didn't want to compromise the show too much. Definitely one of the highlights of South Park as a series. It's kind of funny that I can remember a time when I was 13 or 14 and my mom wouldn't let me watch it, but sometimes I did anyway and she would yell at me. Good times...)

-Terminator 2: Judgment Day (One of the best films ever made...)

-Titanic (Ha!! The same director as the film above)

-Pulp Fiction ("Do you know what the French call a Quarter Pounder with cheese? A royale with cheese.";)

Anyway those are a few of my crown jewels but I'm sure there are going to be more as I continue my search. ^_^

I'd say that jewel of my collection would be my Turtle Blimp followed closely by Castle Greyskull. Two great toys from my childhood that I was glad to find as an adult.
