I thought the movie was enough, but PLEASE don't make an entire series out of it!!! I don't think it SHOULD work as a series! And why the heck is the kid's sister an alien?! I had even seen promos for the movie Re-Animated in the movie theater of all places!

You know I really wonder if the people who are running CN have gotten high or if they have forgotten what the station was supposed to be in the first place. Granted I did enjoy some of the stuff CN had, because to me it was like Boomerang, it aired a variety of classic cartoons along with a few of their more recent ones. Now it refuses to air anything past 2001, and none of the shows CN has aired in recent years really impress me.

TV sucks these days. So it's better to turn off the TV and find something worth your time rather than complain more about it.

I will never get used to new versions of old cartoons. As far as I'm concerned cartoons that I liked as a child have been ruined by bad voice acting and bad animation.
George of the Jungle, for example, is a very old cartoon from the 1960s and is a good example of what happens when you let these big cartoon studios ruin it with bad animation and bad voice acting.
Another example of this is the new Scooby Doo cartoon Shaggy and Scooby Doo Get A Clue which was predacessed by What's New Scooby Doo? That's twice as bad where the animation and voice acting is concerned.
I mean I like newer cartoons as much as the next person but I don't really want to listen to a cartoon that's got bad voice characterizations and even worse animation.

(Grampa Simpson in case not seen): In my day, we'd enjoy a nice bowl of Ninja Turtle-shaped Spaghetti-Os while tuning into the daytime hours of Nickelodeon. By golly, the times I'd have just sittin' there shouting at the kids in Legends of the Hidden Temple, how they're just too dumb putting that dumbass Silver Monkey together. I miss that talkin' tiki wonder called Olmec. Knowledgable he was, mobile he wasn't. When I'd get bored of watching a red cat and a chiuaua doing bizarre hootinanny, I would go to my room and listen to my Sound Garden records... for listening! And anybody remember the Atari Jaquar? Those graphics were blockier than pixelated pornography! Time has passed, and I haven't aged a bit! But now Nickylodeon's the equivelant of a World War II battle, without all the Kamikazes and tyrants! Dang ol' Nickylodeon, ya screwed me over!

*still Grampa Simpson* Back in my day, Cartoon Network was the talk of the town! All cartoons, all the time! From your timeless Hannah Barbera Classics, to the Merrie Melodies, to the strange World Premiere Toons with the introductions of classic Cartoon Network characters of the future! There was Blossom, Butters, and Buttercup, who were as cute as newborn babies! Johnny Bravo, who was as stylish as Alex Trebek! Finally Dexter, who was smarter than Gerald Ford, may he rest in peace. Those characters were darn tootin'! Then they had to ruin it all by bringin' in the crap like Lamp Cazlo and In of Johnny's Brain! Why I oughta-*falls asleep*

In all seriousness, it was a fun read. Hearing you rant on and on about the clichéd and overdone articles that Retro Junk is know for. Quite funny! Although the AVGN thing was unnecessary.

Ah... the good old days. The days where TV was a lot better. Why do you think people like me watch my tapes and DVDs? That's because I don't like to watch most of the new crap. I make my own DVDs, and the DMCA can suck a big one, because I don't re-distribute it, although, technically, making those copies is illegal by the re-write of the Section 501 law.

What is happening to our world these days?! ARGHHH!!

Thank you for this article, Spongeroks. I'm tired of all of the "Cartoons suck now" articles. They are all the same thing, just simply bashing the shows of today with little to no explanation why these cartoons now suck so much. I'm pretty sure if you were kids now, you all would love shows like Ben 10 and Avatar the Last Air Bender. Most of our parents probably thought the same thing about our shows and called them "crap" and "They suck compare to Mighty Mouse, The Flintstones etc". That shows that there is a generation gap between shows and cartoons in general. My mom wasn't like that, since she's not a nostalgic person, but I'm pretty sure some of your parents were like that.

If I had the time, I would write an article response.

Just like my article here that was the cause of some unintentional buzz from people who think that I was blasting the whole 2000s generation, which I wasn't, but what's surprising to me is just how many of you were ignoring the important parts that I was getting at.

I watch old cartoons for the nostalgia of it and that's it. I don't understand how people could think that I was blasting things now vs back then. Although I wouldn't mind some of these, what I like to call, remake fake cartoons that don't even sound realistic enough to stand up to the originals. I mean if they took the time to actually do some research on the old cartoons then I wouldn't mind them as much but what CN did to George of the Jungle, which I used as an example of bad voice acting, is just unforgivable.
George of the Jungle is a very old cartoon from the 1960s and was produced by Jay Ward Productions so there's no way in hell that any remake, no matter how close to the orignial they think it is, can measure up to the timeless classics.

I would just buy the DVDs of old cartoons or watch them online, but be warned: Some of them may not be as good as you remembered them.

Yeah, like the original TMNT cartoon. Ironically, seems the Disney toons don't lose whatever it is that I lost with other shows that I watched and liked as a kid that I don't care for now that I'm an adult.

Well, thanks for warning me. :D You can figure why I don't have too many cartoons on DVD. The only cartoons I have on DVD are the Simpsons, Family Guy, South Park, Animaniacs, Pinky and the Brain and Ben 10.

Thanks a million. It annoys me, too, because I actually hardly ever watched Nickelodeon until around 1998! Where are the articles about how great ABC and FOX Kids were and stuff?
