The only so called kids show I bothered watching (without getting bored) in the 1990s was Exo-Squad and that didn't last long. It's still awesome today since I have found the episodes online. Another one I have found awesome was Cadillacs and Dinosaurs. It didn't last long either.

There were a few other kid cartoons I tried to watch in the 1990s but I got bored with them quickly or I just didn't like them. Then again, most of these shows were outside of my tastes.

I watched the adult toons of the 1990s like The Critic, The Simpsons, South Park (but I outgrew it when I left college and my wife hated the show anyways), Dr. Katz, Beavis and Butthead and Daria.

I don't watch much TV these days due to my working hours and family time with my kids and wife.

I can go through a list of things different now from then. can you explain MTV and VH1 and the other "Music" channels? so I guess since I'm turning to the music channel to watch and listen to music and get screwed over with reality channels isn't turn to another channel? No I have a choice if I want to complain I will.
and cartoons today are different from the 50,60,70,80,90s because of one reason Political correctness, it be different if it was like they do the same thing as before but different, but now they make it look like the world is this perfect place where nothing goes wrong and the try to shield there children from everything then they grow up finding out its a lie and dont know what to do. you can keep saying change the channel but that wont bring anything back. closes thing we got to seeing those things is those "I love the (90s,80s, 70s) specials on VH1. I dont know what you think but I care about those old years and I want kids today to see real cartoons like Bugs bunny and Tom and Jerry. not spongebob and fosters. they need to know how all of this started

I hate to say this to you buddy, but pretty much all of the cartoons from the 70s and 80s ARE politically correct. They took out the violence in the action cartoons of the 70s and made them all Scooby Doo clones. And the cartoons from the 80s were nothing more than 30 minute commericals for toys. Many animation experts claim those eras to be the worst time for American cartoons. The cartoons of today aren't that politically correct, you just grew up.

Bugs Bunny and Tom and Jerry are great, but so is Foster's and Spongebob.

I think writing a post about this article is just asking for trouble. Wow, I hate that everything has changed. We already disagree with each other. I want my childhood back.

I strongly suggest we either behave or quit posting here. I'm already offended by some of the posts people have made here, so just stop. We don't need to go into further demonstrations.

with all due respect, the only reason I make threads about articles, is only because i cannot post comments in the articles, because i cant log in to the main website and RJ wont do ANYTHING about it. And i posted a thread about that too, but its not there anymore so "forget it" i said. ill just do this.

BTW nice rebuttal article, but because u dont want me to i wont make a thread about it :) im 21 now, and youre right about a lot of things. though i have to disagree with your thing about Optimus Prime. I LOVE the updated versions of him but not his classic faces of times before.

Also you can never lose your childhood, i mean i know things have changed but thats life and we must all accept it. Thanks to those other sites and this one as well, childhood is there at just the click of your mouse, even though it looks different. i feel this way, being young at heart and all.

and that is MY opinion, thank you.

its not dead, it just evolved. it became:

Emulation or Wii Virtual Console, Youtube, and "Go to your local KB Toys"

childhood never dies...if it did, you wouldnt be HERE would you?

I kind of agree with the article. It is annoying coming here to see posts and topics about how much stuff sucks now. It gets bothersome and old after a while. If you don't like it, shut off the television and go read a book or something. As I've been saying for ages, no adult should be complaining about kids shows when the shows aren't being aimed at them in the first place, as they are not even the target audience.

That aside, imo, the main channels I find screwed up now are MTV and VH1 since neither shows music videos anymore. I find more wrong with this, than anything Disney or Nickelodeon or even Cartoon Network shows. At least those three stations still show cartoons or shows aimed at kids. I'm curious as to when VH1 and MTV gradually changed. It seemed to just happen all at once.

Anyway, the main thing that was wrong with the article, was the fact that the author listed names of members here for it. That really wasn't right, imo.

why can't people have opinions? isn't this what a message board is for? cartoons now do suck..there are only a few that will ever stand the test of time. Cartoons in the 90's sucked too but there were some good ones..the 80's...so on and so fourth

people need to stop taking things personally here and stop craying over "he/she said she doesn't like my cartoon". The best thing to do is when you don't like things, state why you don't like it instead of saying that it just sucks and that will put some validity into your argument. And maybe actually KNOW what you are talking about before you type.

But CN still shows cartoons, even though some have live-action in it. It's not like this is new. Carrot Top anyone? I'm pretty sure BET still shows music videos at night, but MTV and VH1 don't seem to show them period now.

personally i didnt mind CN showing movies that had cartoon elements within them.

but Out of Jimmy's Head just goes too far:

                            1) cartoon characters in live action hasbeen used MANY times before. in commercials even

                            2) The only thing original in this show, is that cartoon network made it......thats it.

Who cares? The station still primarily show cartoons. MTV and VH1 do not show music videos period. That's why I find more wrong with those stations than anything CN shows, unless it's something fully live-action (like the movies they were airing at one point: Honey I Shrunk the Kids, Batman, etc). Ironically, you don't have people complaining about shows like Goosebumps. I didn't see any complaints either when Peewee's Playhouse used to air on it. No one complained about The Banana Splits and that other show similar to the Banana Splits...only they were birds (I forgot the name of the show), when those used to air on Cartoon Network back in the mid 90s. Carrot Top's AM Mayhem...no one complained about that either, which was the mid 90s as well.

I've never seen that Out of Jimmy's Head show, and don't even know what it's about, but it still has animation in it. Who cares if it's not a fully animated show...the shows I listed above weren't either, and I haven't seen one solitary complaint yet about those shows.

since the shows are getting bad and today the network just blows.

Actually, I was mainly just referring to stuff that aired on CN, but yeah, that show counts too, to some extent.

I do agree that MTV and VH1 no longer (or rarely) show music videos. If they do, it's at 3 AM. Cartoon Network isn't straying from cartoons. They still have plenties of cartoons on. I agree that they shouldn't be running live action movies, but because the network is for kids, they aren't really going to care if the adults complain since we aren't in the target audience.

And for the record, we all grew up in different eras. Everyone likes different things. Personally, I find most of the kids shows of the 1990s to be boring, but then again, I wasn't a kid during that era.
