Hmmm.... I don´t know how to react to that one.... :?

I agree with the whole "Anti War" campaign. But to use The Smurfs!? The Smurfs are one of my favorite cartoons. And I´m not sure that I want to see them and their happy little village get bombed into oblivion.

What´s next? Using The Snorks in a "Save The Enviroment" campaign?

It's just surreal to see the family of the guy who made the Smurfs approve of this. Again, if it's in the name of peace, it's all good.

OMFG! :o:shock: That is f**king disturbing!
Narrator: Man lives in the sunlit world of what he believes to be reality. But... there is, unseen by most, an underworld, a place that is just as real, but not as brightly lit... a Darkside

Disturbing is only the beginning...

What gave them the idea to use The Smurfs in the first place?

That is one seriously low tactic. Using the Smurfs in an "adult-only" episode that children aren't supposed to see? Hmmm, right. Campaign all you want against war, but to use a cartoon like that sucks. It's obvious purpose IS for children to see it.

I think that they want that fact to remain unnoticed wapozoid. But are really adults and children THAT stupid?

                  I don´t think so... :?

The "adult only" part in the article is what really got me. As if it wasn't meant for younger viewers. Apparently, the masses are thought of as mindless drones.

Well granted, some adults ARE that stupid.

Well, two things in defence of this first.
                      1) The smurfs have been around for nearly 50 years. All of the adults would have grown up watching Smurfs, just like many of us here did. The idea was to jar the adults by taking a cherished memory and blowing the hell out of it, since nobody gives a crap about the starving little children in wherever it is that has sex as a national passtime, despite the whole "no food" part.

                      2) It was only aired after the 9 PM watershed, which over there is when "child friendly programming" no longer airs, and is where all of the sex/violence/adult stuff gets played. Children are not supposed to be watching that stuff anyway. It would be like putting it on HBO. No kids are supposed to be watching.

But still, its a pretty low blow.

No, I think you mean nearly 25 years. I think they started airing The Smurfs in 1981.

Actually, the Smurfs have been around since 1958, where they made their first appearance in a comic strip. The Smurf cartoon series that aired in America was first shown in 1981. Big differences there.

One I agree it is a GREAT way to get adults to pay the fuck attention I do think they should have shown it EVERY where. two lets be honest.... even when no kids are "supposed" to be watching there always are. Thats how my fragile little mind was warped in to the twisted bile it is today, by seeing graphic images of Desert Storm and the Riots of 92 (well that and living in the middle of Echo Park at the time).
