Hi All:)

Just a question(s):

What do you collect?

How do you collect the items? How do you have them displayed and other stuff?

What do you think of eBay in obtaining your collections?

Have you ever completed a Series of Toys, etc?

What is the one or few items you still need in your collections?

Just curious:)

Thank:)

High grade Generation One Transformers, high grade 3 3/4" G.I.Joe's from 1982-1991 and other 80's popular culture pieces. Both eBay and Paypal are sick and evil, but in most cases, eBay is the only place I can find the items I want for my collection. Both eBay and Paypal have stolen quite a bit of money from me over the years. It seems like whenever I have a problem concerning a transaction on eBay, eBay and Paypal take the side of whomever is trying to screw me over and the criminal wins thanks to the jackasses at eBay and Paypal.

Amazon.ca has little selection for the things I want. But amazon.com has alot. I can't use either due to lack of credit card..
I am an ebay addict, but I hate it at the same time, just because everything is either rediculously priced because it's retro or the shipping & handling fee is huge.

I collect movies & video games.
only old video games, not a fan of the new ones... and mostly alvin & the chipmunk movies & DVDs. Bump in the night, Bobby's world.. etc.
Most of my stuff comes from ebay or I had it since I was little.

I never use Ebay. I get my collections at garage sales and thrift stores. I collect episodes of older 80s and 90s cartoon series (on DVD or VHS), Winnie the Pooh stuff, Berenstain Bears stuff, costume jewelry, old books, Garfield stuff, etc. I display all my stuff in my "retro room" on shelves. It's like a small museum :). I have never completed a collection of anything, but I am getting closer to completing my collection of old The New Adventures of Winnie the Pooh episodes (86 episodes in all, and I have 56 of them), thanks especially to an older woman who was selling a whole bunch of these episodes at a garage sale this summer.

I collect 1980s & older action figures and have gotten quite a bit of my collection through Ebay. Sadly, Ebay isn't what it once was a few years ago. Over time more and more bad sellers and scammers have started to sell there. It seems nowadays that at least half of the items I buy their are either mis-represented, poorly packaged or grossly overcharged on shipping. It makes me wonder when the time will come that something better will come along and Ebay tanks. If it happens, it would be their own fault as they have let these things slide for years.

I collect vinyl albums. I've never used e-bay but I like browsing it to get an idea of what some of my stuff is worth. I've looked at Gemm a few times which is an online used music store, I've never used it but I've considered it. It's supposed to be quite good.

1. G.I. Joe figures & vehicles (both 12" and 3 3/4" collections), Transformers, comics (Full runs of Punisher, G.I. Joe, and a few hundred Captain America comics), militaria, and just about anything else that catches my interest.

2. Flea markets, stores, eBay, internet stores, conventions, etc. I display my collections of shelves, including my comics.

3. eBay is fantastic if you know how to use it. Some dumb shmucks bid on the first item they see. Gotta play it smart and get good deals. A lot of money can be drained from your bank account by the click of a mouse button.

4. No, but I have complete Punisher and G.I. Joe comic runs. It's getting difficult to maintain that completion since both are growing in popularity in the comic world and are branching off into sub-series comics. Completing a big toyline requires a lot of money. If you want a complete toyline then go for a smaller production. The 80's cartoon C.O.P.S. is pretty neat, not a lot was produced for that series. You can find all the toys on eBay or at conventions.

5. What do I need to complete my collections? Too much to list, about a few thousand dollars worth of stuff.

I collect Fisher Price Little People (the old ones, not the fat ones that came in the early-mid nineties, i loathe them)

I have most of mine from when i was little and if i see some at an antique store, i'll buy them but i never use eBay. It's less of a challenge and you don't get that excitment having a "great find"

I collect energy drink cans and Halo stuff. The cans are stacked around my TV, I've got about 150-200 different ones. I just go to gas stations periodically and look for new drinks.

-Sports cards from the 80's to early 90's. About 78 to 92/93, all 4 sports. Havent bought alot from ebay, I stick mostly to a few online retailers I like alot. I've never had a problem with lost money, damaged goods.

-High grade GI Joe's, figures and vehicles from 82 to 88/89. I buy probably 90% on ebay, mostly from night_vipers_joes. Excellent seller, great feedback. VERY accurate grader. Never had a problem. I'll continue to buy from him for a long time (as long as I can afford it, alot of his auctions go for big $$$)

-Some G1 Transformers. Just getting into it.

Maybe a few others.

For the most part though, I dont buy online from random sellers. If I want to buy a video game or accessory or something, I'll buy from amazon or best buy. You know what you're getting, zero hassle. The hassle factor on ebay is way too big for some items. Why do it, when you've got so many alternatives.

ebay is okay most of the time.

I collect vinyl Godzilla & Ultraman figures. I get them from online stores that except personal checks. The best store is Monster Valley Toys www.monstervalleytoys.com.

I also collect minimates. They're like LEGO people but more articulated and not yellow. They're made in the image of DC and Marvel super heroes. My prised one is Superman, he came with Lex Luthor and a chunck of Kryptonite. I buy them in comic shops and Virgin Mega Store.

And ofcourse..Dun dun dada! STAR WARS FIGURES!!! It started with Greedo and is still stedaly growing. I was lucky enought to find a C-3po carrieing case for them in a comic book place. I buy them at Toys 'R' Us in Time Square.

I was gonna join eBay but they require a credit card which I don't have. :-/

I rarely collect anything, 'cept for music mostly, and that's pretty much imported stuff of artists or groups I like, which is also rare because it's expensive. I'm starting to get into the Russian artist, Origa, and I would like to collect her older works (she debuted in the early 90s), but it's kind of expensive.

I'm a media junkie. I collect CD's DVD's PS2 video games and books. There are shelves of them. I also enjoy collecting McFarlane figures of sports stars as well as sports cards and bobble heads. Some of them I have displayed in my guest room.

I love Star Wars to death and I collect a little bit of everything so it is kind of hard to list everything I have. I'll just give a ballpark figure and say I probably have 500-600 items collected and scattered throughout my house over 10 years of my SW fandom. My favorite items are my action figures and my DVDs. I would eventually like to get my hands on a Force FX Lightsaber Replica. Jedi or Sith? Definitely Sith...>:-D

I also love Sega Genesis and anything Sonic/Sega related to death!! I have a huge box of Archie Sonic comics, the SatAM DVD set, a few books, the Sonic the Hedgehog the Movie VHS and a Sega Genesis model 2 and 3 with 50+ games and all the accessories needed to play. The Sega Genesis is my baby. But it can be a naughty baby as it has been somewhat of a source of frustration at times (Doesn't work, cleaning, bad controllers, etc.) but it comes with the territory of owning an older console. I would still like to have any or all of the Archie Sonic The Hedgehog comic anthologies and I'm still on the lookout for two more Genesis games I had as a kid, Hardball III and Ultimate Mortal Kombat III.

I'm fascinated by things of the 80's and 90's (thats why I'm here ^_^) and I collect many other kinds of things besides Star Wars and Sega/Sonic . I particularly like to find old action figures like TMNT or Transformers and DVDs of old TV shows and movies of my youth.

As far as eBay goes, I only use it if I can find a better price on something or if it is particularly rare or no longer being sold. I've bought my one Sega Genesis console, a few Sega Genesis games, a CD, and a few Sega controllers. I browse it regularly, but I'm not much of an impulse buyer. I'm more of an impulsive buyer offline.

I collect Super Mario/Nintendo stuff. I've completed several game series's, and there's this set of Mario figures that I have complete as well as these Zelda: Twilight Princess gashapon figures. I have my collection displayed all around my room, and I like ebay because that's how I get most of my stuff.

I collect toys and comic books based on 80's cartoons as well as the toons themselves. I've found alot of great stuff on Ebay and so far everything has worked out nicely.I've received all my purchases and they were all in excellent condition.
