I heard that you can hook a VCR up to a computer and put the contents of your VHS tapes on the computer. How can I do that and post the contents on this site?

Yes, all you need is a pci card that will have hookups for rca inputs. Then just hook up your vcr's rca outputs (any vcr in the last 15-20yrs should have them, i have one from 1986 that does) and you should be ready to go.

The card should come with software to capture the video.

I use an old AMD K-6 200 MHz PC running Windows 98 SE, and the type of card the above is referring to, a DV Capture Card (DV stands for Digital Video). I usually plug the VCR/NES/whatever into the RCA input for video, and a stereo Y cable (stereo mini plug to 2 RCA outputs, usually red and white) from the card to the audio output on the device (sometimes I use a splitter onn the source if it's something with monophonic, aka, single channel sound like an 8-bit Nintendo). I had to hunt for the software on Driverguide because my card is by far obsolete, it's a Dazzle/Snazzi that uses the Dazzle/Snazzi Amigo software to record. It does a pretty good job on video capturing, except when using the Game Genie on the NES, it does something mean to the refresh rate and throws the software into PAL mode.

Overall, I probably need to put up some highlights from that old DOS tape I found at the thrift store, there's some funny stuff on there.
