    Hi All,

    I have a question:

For all who collect Toys, etc.:)

Most people like the toys unopened, but a lot I've noticed collect the Toys from years ago which are no longer in packages and have some play wear:)

Why do people collect toys outside of packages? Just curious and I may not even be wording my question correctly:)

    Thanks All:)

toys are made to be played with at the lest to be displayed if you had the whole toy line of he-man what looks better them in a all out fight for castle grayskull or as your box display most of them hidden from view

For me, personally, I appreciate the play value of my Transformers toys rather than the monetary value of it. I have a shelf full of Cybertron toys that I've opened, played with, and put back in the package. It's not that I'm too lazy to play with them. It's that I don't want to loose any of the parts that come with the toy and in the world of toy collectors there's nothing that's more sacreligious than loosing a part to a toy and thus making it incomplete.

I think saying that most people prefer MIB toys isn't a fair statement. Alot of collectors prefer loose. They're cheaper, you can actually hold them in your hand and transform them(or do whatever it is that figure did), they display much better and take up less space and alot of times, the more rare figures are damn near impossible to find in a package. Theres also a group of collectors who specifically buy MIB toys because they want a mint toy, but will open for the reasons I listed above.

I collect both and enjoy both. In both cases, I look for the best quality. I don't really like to buy beat up stuff. Loose figures do look great displayed but if your interested in making an investment, then unopened with nice packaging is the way to go.

Loose toys are sometimes easier to collect because they are cheaper and sometimes people make customs out of them.

sometimes a collector does'nt value the history of the toy as long as it will completes his collection, he will buy it still

Well, I don't really care about the monetary value of my toys or what they'll fetch in years to come. I like that I can play around with them and figure out how they transform. That sort of thing.
In fact I'm writing a new RJ article called A Secret World: Girl-Formers just because I wanted to prove that Transformers are not just "boys and their toys anymore."

Thanks rirotostichi, plus sometimes the toy is so rare that a collector will get a loose one just to have it.

plus as i've learned with my 3 yoson.. (who they were always intended to be kept for.).. they make great toys for the next generation.. esp. now that i have the dvds to back up the toys.

that reminds me, I gave my daughter an extra man-e-faces that I had and she plays with him every now and then. It's kind of cool to see it thrown on the floor in her room...adds a touch of vintage appeal to the room.

his current favorite is buzz-off cuz he's a bee...

the vintage toy is cool esp. considering he's getting the majority of the 2002 line minus playset and vehicles for xmas.
