Has anyone here ever saw something nice sitting out on someone's curb, meant to be thrown away, and picked it up?

Once I went by this house and saw a nice 60s record table (with space for holding records underneath the table top).

It was out on the curb, meant to be thrown away, and it was in good condition!

So I saved the record table from the dump, and had my dad repaint the table top white. It now sits in my basement today. When I looked under the table top where the record shelf was, I saw a Jimmy Buffet tape in there!

My Dad has also put some of our old stuff out on the curb, like an old bicycle, an old tv, etc. so it can be taken by someone else.

Anyone else have any good stories?

I've got a ton of gret stuff off the curb, including TVs, stereos, computers (I strip them for parts, movies, you name it. My wife frowns on this....thats why I don't do it as much anymore.
Actually, I've got some friends near UW-Madison WI who are going to be shooting a short documentary called "Hippy Christmas", basically about dumpster diving. They drive around on the day the kids move onto campus and and they say its basically a treasure trove of stuff that these kids will throw out rather then move. I guess last year they found a box with like 100 Real Anime DVDs, not burned copies.

We actually have a pair of those at the comic shop. The owner uses them to make pants for costumes.

Twice. Once an old saloon style wooden chair and the other time the family across the street from me were throwing out a bunch of electronics. I took home an old 70's piece of gear from Candle (later became Citizen.) It was a stereo amp with built in radio, 8-track and a tape recorder and a pair of speakers. I still have the speakers to this day, the stereo reciever died after a while, I got tired of it malfunctioning.

A 20 pound note, a 5 pound note & some old signs, a schoolbag with a six pack of beer, A bag of old empty glass bottles (Smashed 'em), A plastic monkey paw & a Hulk Hogan figure.

My brother found an old Stone cold Steve Austin figure laying in the middle of the road.

I found a bunch of books, a nice chair, some random action figures, a Tiffany (or at least it looked like one) lamp, some veneshin blinds (They were broke though) and some clothes at random stops.

I also saw a really old television by someone's curb once, but I was walking and couldn't carry it home (it was huge!). By the time I returned there a bit later, it was gone. I've also seen nice kitchen chairs, old fashioned dinner trays, and kids' bicycles on people's curbs.

I found Pokemon Gold for the original GB on a basketball court. I did the good duty of rescuing it as it was starting to rain and there was no one else there to see if it was theirs.
I also got my first record turntable, a 1960s model gerard. I just had to spend about 5 bucks on a new belt, the needle was perfect. My buddy takes the cake though, he got a working Centipede arcade cabinet with a "FREE - IT WORKS" sign on it.
