I don't have the phobia anymore but when I was a kid I hated windows at night, I always thought that I'd see someone peak in or just sit there with a straight face staring inside. Like someone with a burgler mask and.....I know this is funny but aliens, the kind with the big heads and big dark eyes. It's the way I pictured it. I don't remember where it comes from though. Nowadays I'd just unleash my fists of fury *wink*

My cousin has a phobia of orange juice with pulp because he always pictures the pulp as flies or bugs.

Oh my God, ME TOO! I still have that phobia...especially if I've just watched a really scary movie, I'm scared to get up and close the window because of my irrational fear that something is going to be staring right back.

And when I was little, I was PETRIFIED of E.T.(still am) And I was scared whenever I went to the bathroom at night, because I was scared that E.T. (this might sound totally ridiculous) lived in my shower and would attack me if I opened the shower curtain. Of course, I'm totally over that, but it caused me many terrifying nighttime trips to the bathroom when I was a little kid.

I've heard that fear of E.T. before, I wonder if it's more common than I would think. I liked E.T. as a kid. My phobia of windows ended about the time right before going to highschool, but one thing that still freaks me out is *drumroll* Teletubbies!

Head lights freak me out too. My bedroom is right next to the neighbor's drive way and when they leave for their graveyard job I get freaked out by their headlights. Plus the headlights are always shining through my window because my bedroom faces the street.

Commercials on tv for 976/1-900 numbers those have always freaked me out. And they still do not as much though. But the text commercials don't for some reason.

Surgical and dust masks I don't know why but when I see people wearing them I freak out about those too.

Music boxes of any kind really make me uneasy. Opening them and hearing that haunting, creepy mechanical melody... the whole thing is f'ed up.
That last time I opened one, I literally said "Fuck this!" and slammed it shut. I'm sure someone could do some psychological analysis on that, but I'd rather let my neurosis lay dormant and just stay the hell away from those things.

Eww, eww, YES. I take the popsicle part and put it in a bowl and eat it with a fork.
I'm scared of sitting in a place where I can't see all the walls and doorways easily, scared of eating when it's too dark to see the food clearly (even if I know exactly what I'm eating), scared of closing the music box before it finishes, or if it stops before the end (I don't even like the sound, it's creepy, but if I accidentally start it it just has to finish), scared of big top hats.
And terrified of insects that buzz.

The emergency broadcast system things scared me, as well.
Anyone remember that Dristain commercial with the talking Easter Island idols? Scared the bejeezus out of me.
I was also scared of the sphinx in Joseph and the Amazing Technicolor Dreamcoat, and Koosh balls. My sister convinced me that they were alive, and would pelt me with them.
I am deranged, but so, so playful!

EBS- The noise! Plus, it always said "If this were a real test, the news will be shown afterwards" or something like that. I was always scared that it was real.

Empire Commercials- It all stared with an old commercial with a guy's face in a rug, talking about carpets or something. (Terminex does the same thing, with faces on the wall. I can't watch those commercials.)

E.T- Eww, I'm still scared of that thing.

Thunderstorms- That started when my Grandma pretended to be sucked out the door when one was going on.

Cans of Soda- I used to be scared of the noise the carbonation made. I thought it as bugs crawling around in my can. I always had to pour it in a glass.
"Did I ever tell you how much I like ants huh? Especially fried in a subtle blend of mech fluid and grated gears?"

The old intro to HBO when they showed a new movie on Saturday nights in the 80s. That intro scared me so much I had to leave when it came on.And when the american flag came on at the end of network broadcasting and the tv just going blank or making that loud buzzing noise.

When I was about 7, I was scarred to death of the commercial bumpers for the KABC Midnight movie, as well as the logo too. That music is still in my head to this day. I also had a fear about windows. Here may be a crazy one though. I hate it when the image on the t.v. freezes. That still to this day creeps me out.

Our Fox affiliate (maybe every for channel did this) had this Sunday Afternoon Movie. It would show a graphic with a valet parking guy and "movie premiere" spotlights. This used to freak me out slightly... not sure why though.

I guess it was just weird that someone would spend their sunday afternoon watching a lame 15 year old movie instead of doing something with their life on a sunday. Sundays always bring a certain uneasiness now that I think about it. The fun, awesome part of the weekend is over, and the whole country is in a holding pattern for about a day (this is less true now than in the past). People do odds and ends, yardwork, laundry...that kind of thing. Its also the day statistically most probable that you will spend 2 hours playing gin rummy with your grandma. Its just a weird day in general, and when you throw the sunday afternoon Fox matinee on top of it, its enough to drive anyone bonkers.

For years I had a nightmare about a tapestry that hung over my bed coming to life. I don't know where it started from but I was sure glad when the bad dreams finally subsided.

                                  Oh man.

WHen you watch TV and the black bit between show and commercials lasted a bit too long.

                                  The Hamburger helper hand

Not so much the beep of the emergency broadcast, but the guy's voice.

Sometimes, and this still scares me, a song I hear often but never pay attention to. Something like "Come on Eileen" and then there are lyrics in it I don't recognize. Like they were never there before.
                                  "Now it makes me sad
It makes me mad at truth

Come On Eileen? You mean the song by Dexy's Midnight Runners?

Well that was an example. An actual happening was:

I was listening to "Our House" by Madness. You know, it's all about this geat house they remember and their family unit. I had heard it a hundred thousand times. I guess I never paid close attention.

So I am listening to it, on the computer and at the end it goes into acapella and then it's interrupted by the line "Something tell you that you've got to get away from it"

I had never heard that line in the song before in my life, at least not that I could ever remember. But that particular file had been played by me may times.

                                      It freaked me out.
                                      "Now it makes me sad
It makes me mad at truth

The sound of metal against metal, mainly silverware. It's a sensory thing, I still hate it.
