I just discovered a great way to get tons of free academic books and novels, including collectible textbooks from years ago, if you go to an university (or even a high school). Just this year, one of the history teachers (whom I had known) announced he was leaving his position at the university for another position at another university. He has A TON of books and textbooks in his office that he could not take with him (and he does not have a big office - I wondered how he kept all those books on his shelves!). So he put the books and history videos he could not take with him out in the hallway next to his office and sent out an e-mail to the students announcing that they could come and take as many books as they wanted for FREE. I saw the e-mail and came at once, making off with like 60 books (that's all I could carry in two big bags) on history, writing techniques, political science, philosophy, and even videos on the CIA and FBI. I also got the novels "David Copperfield," "Man's Search for Meaning," "Letters to Emily" and other novels for FREE too! So, if a teacher is retiring or leaving their position at a school, they might give away stuff for free - check around and watch out! Even my mother was astounded by the many, many books I brought home, all of them probably worth (all together) over $200 at a bookstore.

I don't know if any of you also collect old textbooks, academic books, etc. like I do, but I thought that was very nice of the professor to do that for his students, and also a good (and interesting) way to get some nice books for free.
