I don't think I've ever heard any sounds at the end of video tapes :? I just rewind when the movie or the credits end.

Oh, I already watched the video sammyt3esnake posted, it's just that it doesn't affect me at all. Not really blaming you guys really.

When I was little, I got a bit freaked out by two closing logos, and that was just when I was young. I'm no longer scared of any when I'm older now =/

But if anything else being scary on The Land Before Time, its the American Tail advertisement at the end (before the black screen and strange noise).

Can you upload that American Tail advertisment here on RetroJunk or on Youtube?

I agree with Samuran_w.They should have put a message saying "This is the end of the tape. Please stop and rewind now.",but instead,we see black and white test patterns with a beeping noise, buzzing noise or a telephone noise.

It doesn't show it on my brother's VCR, but my VCR shows it. Someone requested me to look at the end of "The Land Before Time" VHS for an even scarier tone, allthough it lasts for 5 seconds. The best way to describe the tone is "pull my finger", so I recorded that and me and my friends put that and more of this stuff in a video on Youtube.

          You can watch it here:

Also look on the profile for the phone-dialing beep in another video.

Cool! Was that exclusive to "The Land Before Time" videotape,or did other videotapes have it too?

The Universal ident appeared, and then the codes that came on the screen at the beginning reappeared and stayed there until the end of the tape was reached.

          That's a very weird thing!

That clear part on the tape is just to tell the sensor in the VCR that the tape has ended.

I remember that used to happen when I would watch tapes. That noise would scare the living shit out of me when I was a kid.

Come to think of it, that noise would probably scare me today too, as I haven't heard it in years.

I've heard of a pink screen in a movie theater before, when someone saw "Monsters VS Aliens".

                                      BUMP! Keeping this alive!

I watched a few VeggieTales tapes after the credits, and here i what I saw:

On the Jonah movie tape, after the bloopers and commercials for Ballad Of Little Joe and LarryBoy and the Yodelnapper, it showed static that took up the whole screen.

The Lyrick Studios print of LarryBoy and the Fib From Outerspace ended with the Lyrick duck logo, and the same static I saw on Jonah. You could see it in the video "Manafichu Video Adventures Part 4" on Youtube

On the Lyrick print of Very Silly Songs (I rented this and LarryBoy from my library, and it showed static at some parts of the tape), it had the duck logo, and then the static which takes up the whole screen.

On Jonah Sing-A-Long songs, after a preview for "The Star Of Christmas", static took up the whole screen. You can see it in the video "Mimitchilove33 Video Killers Episode 1 Part 6" (made by me) on YouTube.

So, there's a staticy screen at the end of every VHS tape... wonderful find.

There's no point in looking for it on a newer VCR player because static or a blue screen is all you'll get. I've don't remember ever looking it, but I think even my oldest VHS tapes will not display the white screen on any new player. I guess they have something built in that stops it now. I don't know for sure when they started manufacturing them that way, but I remember I only used to see the white screen on my parents old VCR player from the 80's.

Since working 80's VHS players are kind of hard to come by, you're better off just looking for videos of it on Youtube. It's much easier, less time consuming, and it won't eat your tapes.
Recipe for nostalgia: Mix 80's and 90's culture. Stir in some good memories. Add a dash of reflection. Mixture should now taste bittersweet. Shake well and enjoy!
