There was a parade with nuclear missles as part of it. some kids watching the parade were playing with their remote controlled car and theyactually sent a signal to the missiles which exploded and caused a apocaliptic disaster. The guy you are talking about was in his volvo when the explosion went off and survived because "Volvos are such safe cars". this guys find other survivors and they start a life in a cabin in some wide open area. I remeber one episode had a giant spider attacking the cabin. It was a giant spider due to radioactivity. Obviously this show was a comedy, and obviously it was cancelled after only a short while.
