Ok, this is something great to learn more about eachother, and break stereotypes. If you want to post then post, but if not, then keep on walkin. So, lets break down myths about our cultures/backgrounds/religions/etc.

    1. Just because I am petite does not mean I starve myself (I love to eat :P )
    2. NO, I DO NOT like all of my food fried  (heck I barely eat fried foods)
    3. ALL CHRISTIANS, I REPEAT, ALL CHRISTIANS ARE NOT LIKE THE ONES THAT YOU SEE ON TV (please stop grouping us together, you have your orthodox and unorthodox ones, I'm the latter).

Nah, I'm not surprised! A lot of non-blacks actually think that all black people know how to dance or play ball which is soooo not true.

Just because I'm blonde doesn't mean I'm an idiot. It also doesn't mean I'm easy, I will mace you if need be.

I do not speak Pennsylvania-Dutch. And I HATE sauer kraut.

I agree with this one very much, not that all the ones on television are bad or anything, but the ones that people tend to remember are the bad examples.

Just because I'm from North Dakota and not some enormous city like New York, Chicago, LA,or Detroit does not mean that I'm backwards and don't know what anything new is, like Plasma TVs, PDA's, or any other high tech device. This stereotype annoys me to no end, and I hear it a lot.

Well, I do not speak Pittsburgh-ese and I don't have a mullet. :D Seriously, though, not all fat people stay warm easier than "normal" people.

Alright this could be a way to settle some gripes I have about race. I'm an Asian-American and I think that portrayal of Asians in America isnt fair.

First off I aint a nerd. I despise school and hate academics.

I cant fix your computer either.

                I drive just fine.

I cant do karate. Whatever fighting I know is growing up with pro wrestling, Ninja Turtles or the Power Rangers.

I was born and raised here and I'm as American as they come. I grew up on American cartoons and tv (not into the anime), I eat American food (it aint rice 3 meals a day, and I dont eat animals that arent meant to be eaten), I speak perfect English (why is it that on TV and movies all Asians are the only ones that cant speak English?) But I'm not saying liking anime, Chinese food and not speaking perfect English is bad. I'm just proving some points.

I love Family Guy, Seinfeld, Simpsons, and am the only person I know who still loves cartoons from my childhood.

AND I'm a sportsfan by which I mean baseball, basketball and football. No ping pong for me.

So I guess I'm just your average person. Stereotyping is bad.
                WHAT?

Just because I'm half japanese doesn't mean I have any math skills. Ask me to add two numbers, I gurantee I'll get it wrong... although my dad (full blooded japanese) is just about a genius.

Just because I live in Morris County, NJ doesn't mean I'm a stuck-up rich snob. I drive a piece of crap '93 Chevy Lumina, not a suped up Jetta. And I don't root for the yankees, mets, giants, jets, eagles, or phillies. I am a Washington Redskins and Nationals man.

Just because half of my family are part of a minority doesn't mean they're all liberals. My father, uncle, and myself are republicans.

And just because I have Japanese family doesn't mean I attacked Pearl Harbor, members of my family had already been born within the U.S. by then. And they spent the war in concentration camps.

What else... oh, even though I'm a republican it doesn't mean I'm a redneck racist war-mongering crusader for Christ.

I think that's it, I'll post more if I think of anything else.

Derrick and Warlord, its so refreshing to have someone from Asian culture clarify these myths. A guy I know, who is Asian-American, says he HATES it when people call him Chinese. There is also this other myth about Asian men....that they are not attractive, but their women are goddesses. I currently live in NYC, and I will tell you that the "trend" is white men with Asian Women. Love conquers all no matter what race, religion, etc, but I know for a fact that some of these couples are doing it b/c its the new thing to do. I hope I'm getting my point across without sounding racist  .

Just beacause I'm a female college student in New York that likes alternative rock music and goes to Warped Tour does't mean that I can't be a registered republican that voted for our president.

First off, Steers and Queers are NOT the only things that come from Texas. I’m not a redneck. I don’t wear cowboy boots. I don’t have a belt buckle bigger than the WWE Championship. I don’t ride horses. I wear vans, baggy jeans, and I drive a Jeep. Also because I look white, doesn’t mean my half Hispanic background isn’t very important to me. I speak Spanish. But I don’t mow lawns, eat tacos (well, all the time), or wear wife beaters. I don’t say “esse” or “guey” as every other word. I am part German, English, Irish, and Scottish also, but I can’t deny my love for drinking and fighting haha.

Just cuz I'm a white male from Nebraska doesn't mean I like Nascar, Go to Rodeos, know how to milk a cow, or listen to country. I dont detassle corn or ride my 4-wheeler around the farm all day. not that any of these things are bad it's just that I am not like that

No I am not a Hick, some, SOME country is ok but mostly it's not for me. I don't live on a farm. I live in a house in a neighborhood just like the one you live in. I admit, I do own a cowboy hat but I've only worn it twice in four years.

Just cuz I live in Nebraska doesn't mean I'm a die hard husker football fan....wait a minute, I LOVE HUSKER FOOTBALL....so thats a bad example.

Huskers vs wake forest 6pm central time

Ok, I here are a couple more...
                            1. Just because I am from down south does not mean I am not intelligent and aware of what's going on in the world. Non southerners tend to think that we southerners are backwards and clueless.

                            2. Also, although I am a nice person that does not mean that I can be taken advantage of and that I won't kick your butt or cut you :x (if need be).

Just because I'm from Los Angeles doesn't mean I'm blonde or that I have a tan or love surfing.

Also just because I'm half Mexican doesn't mean I speak fulent Spanish. My family is very Americanized. My mom doesn't speak Spanish either. We only know slang-y words. And we don't eat beans everyday. I don't even like beans.

There are some jacked up stereotypes out there and people like you break them just by being American... the non-hyphenated type. Good job.

I have some Asian in me. When it comes time to fill out a personal datasheet, I check Asian. But I was raised, in the Midwest, on our country and way of life. I've been in blue-collar jobs the whole time, drive an Expedition, and also speak perfect English and main played friggin' hockey in high school and college.

As of today, I am the only Asian dick in my unit, but nobody cares because every man in the unit is American, fighting in the same forces. My sister is the most conservative person I know and wrote articles for the American Enterprise institute, one of the most conservative magazines in the country before she decided to go to graduate school. Both my mother and father are members on the Republican national commitee. Overall, I think pretty good people and not war-mongering because thier own son is a Soldier.

This is funny because I think a lot of people have stories about the whole "trying to act white/black/other" thing. Some people seem to think that since I speak grammatically correct then I'm trying to talk "white". What the hell is that :? ? I mean, a lot of us speak our own slang but corporate as well so we know how to do the ole switcheroo  . Now, as far as the music goes, that's also not a one sided thing. I love nine inch nails, Greenday, a little bit of country (very selective), reggae, reggatone, anything. So yeah, people like that lady sucks even though she was in a drunken stupor  !
