I have my favorites such as the pointer sister's pinball sketch and me and my llama. But does anyone remember the kid climbing the tree to get a coconut and then he drinks the milk. Or the song about a family, half of it was sung in spanish I believe. What about the song keep Christmas with you all through the year from the christmas special?

wow...this thread makes me realize how much I dont remember about sesame street. I rememeber...

          - the main muppets
          - its a bird, its a plane, it's super grover!
          - near far
          - bert and ernie going to bed
          - brought to you by the letter...
          - the opening song
          - the infomercials that came on after and told you to go get your parents.
          - the rubber ducky song...but it was in "three men and a little lady" so I've heard it since my sesame street days.

I don't remember elmo being on it at all.

Wow, this thread brought back memories. Stuff I remember:

            1.) "A loaf of bread, a bottle of milk, and a stick of butter . . . "
2.) The two-headed monster singing with Cab Calloway
            3.) The Beetles ("Uuuuu, Thinking of U . . .";)
            4.) Mr. Hooper's death
5.) The short film where they showed how a saxophone is built. There was weird, avant-garde saxophone music in the background. A similar one was made about how they make paper.
6.) The counting one with a choir of kids singing the numbers as they flashed across the screen. They'd go up to a certain number and yell it several times ("NINE! NINE! NINE!";) and then sing "TEN NINE EIGHT SEVEN SIX FIVE FOUR THREE TWO ONE!"
7.) Guy Smiley (I caught part of an old Sesame Street on Noggin one night, and I still think he's funny)
8.) The Count (my favorite muppet as a kid)
9.) Ernie's "I Don't Want To Live On The Moon" song (The Young Fresh Fellows actually covered this a few years ago)
            10.) "B is for bubble! Bubble, bubble, bubble . . ."
11.) The "me and my M" song and cartoon ("Mmmm, mmmm, mmmm, as we mosey along . . .";)
12.) A short film with a man trying to read a newspaper while walking down the street. Every now and again, he'd walk in front of a car or into some other perilous situation, and you'd hear a child's voice say, "Danger!" I think it ended with him falling down an open manhole.

The thing about having siblings much older than you are is that a lot of your childhood memories of shows like Sesame Street are tied in with the ways they'd make fun of them as teenagers. Hence, I can't think of the "Everybody sleeps" song without thinking of my sister changing the lyrics to "Everybody farts." And then, there's this little ditty they used to sing:

"Big Bird, Big Bird took a turd on Sesame Street!
It flew threw the air and landed at Gordon's feet!
Gordon said, 'Eww!' and kicked it off his shoe,
And it landed in the mouth of Sue!
Big Bird, Big Bird took a turd on Sesame Street . . ."
"Preserving the old ways from being abused,
Protecting the new ways for me and for you.
            What more can we do?"
--The Kinks, "Village Green Preservation Society"

Guy Smiley, Amazing Mumford, Forgetful Jones, Harry Monetser (phased him out), when Ernie would take Bert's nose off like he did when he made the clay sculpture, the aliens that went meep meep meep aww awww, the elephant who lived in Oscar's trashcan, when Luis broke his arm, FOLLOW THAT BIRD!!

It turns out that they had to make Snuffy real to all because the idea of him being "imaginary" was being used by child molesters so in order to stop that idea they made him known by all.

Elmo really came to the scene during Luis and Maria's wedding. It was funny because they were doing thought bubbles on each character about the whole thing and Elmo was the ring bearer and so the whole time he was saying "don't drop the rings."

Box City Recyclin' Rap (Kids building things with boxes and stuff)

The number segments (These are what I really love: 13, 15, 17, 19)

Happy Birthday (A woman's voice said it in a rap way with sexy sounds and rap-like music)

We Got the Power (Computer rap segment)

That's What's Best About Getting Dressed

                    Faces Rap

No Matter What (Kids changing a big multi-colored ball)

Time For a Rhyme (Both versions)

Above it All (I want just the mp3 of this song. I love it! I even sang the chorus of it.)

Believe in Yourself (N*Sync version. I LOVE N*Sync! They rock!)

Elbows and Knees (I forgot about that skit. That one was sexy, too. Especially the girls' knees!)

Hey, I don't know if this is couth, er, proper ettiqute on this here site, but I was just over at You Tube and there are a good 60 some pages of some VERY fine olde sesame stuff. Amongst which I saw:
-Swing up High, Swing Up Free
-The very first segment with an orange Oscar
                      -The very first intro
-The old ending with the credits and Barkley and the kids
                      -The origonal Manaa Manaa
                      -Disco Frog!

There's more...Herbie Hancock and that Tatiana Ali (I spelled her name wrong, there was no way I wouldn't).

So...I just thought I'd tell ya.

This is such a long thread, so I don't know if this is mentioned. The old Sesame is coming to DVD in October!

I know what you mean. there was one moment I loved with Barkley. when he was having a dream about chasing a frisbee and finally leaping up and catching it. I felt kinda sad when they woke him up. I still cry thinking about it.

Here is an interesting find. It's the intro to the very first episode of "Sesame Street". The beginning was done in a Gumby style animation. Here it is!

"Sesame St." - Episode #1 Intro

And here is the closing of the very first episode of "Sesame St." Oh, by the way, it has the famous NET logo.

Question for all Sesame St. fans at YouTube, does anyone have a copy of the 26-letter alphabet where they are shouting in fireworks? I love fireworks, but I haven't seen it on Sesame St. since I was a kid. Do you have it on YouTube? I would love to see it.
