    Does anyone remember watching the segment about Grover singing about the "Monster in the Mirror"? I really like that song, it makes me want to move a beat.

    I really like the celebrity version of that song. If I can remember, it features The Simpsons in it, along with some other guests. Don't know which one, but all I remember that Whoopi Goldberg appears in that video. Anyone can clarify?

      Anyone else remember this stop motion segment with rolling balls of different colors and patterns performing all kinds of tricks with each other? It was also played to a rather babyish tune. This segment creeped me out a bit when I was young.

        I loved the Alligator King song. xD

        I even have the song downloaded on my PC! But I can't find a picture of the Alligator King ANYWHERE..!

        Does anyone know where I CAN..? xD It's bugging me!

          I also remembered the song "Put down the duckie". I also like the version that Pee Wee (and a handful of other celebrities) sings that particular song. Does anyone remember that song? It really makes me want to dance a move.

          Sorry if I say this over and over again but I really like the "Body Dance" and "Dancing Feet" segments. There's also a video clip about a handful of sesame street characters appear in a live action scene along with the other humans and if I remember from that clip in the end, there is some guy's feet lying down, next to Ernie and Bert.

          Anyone remember what other clips they remembered seeing?

            1, 2, 3, 4, 5... 6, 7, 8, 9, 10.
            Ten tiny turtles on the telephone,
            talkin' with the grocery man (la, la, la)
            We would like some lettuce, would you send us ten heads, please.
            And ten sweet potatoes, and ten rutabegas, with the dimples on their knees.

            We would like 1, 2, 3, 4, 5, 6, 7, 8, 9, 10 artichokes.
            Ten eggplants, over-easy. That's a-one of your little jokes (ha, ha, ha)
            Ten nifty, leaffy collard greens, and please make sure they're washed.
            Lighten our lives, brighten our eyes with ten banana squash.

            Please send us ten cans of black-eyed peas, they give you good strong muscles.
            Ten of those tasty sprouts, the ones that they call Brussels.
            We would also like ten mangos, they're the favorite of our sister Gert,
            And a-one last thing please do include, ten apples for dessert.

                  Anyone remember this? There would be a black screen, and a point of light would draw multiple circles or octagons, then lines through all of them and once it was done, all the shapes would turn. In the background there was singing like "ah-AH-ah-AH-ei-ei-ei-ei-ei-ei-ah-AH-ah-AH", and would reach a sustained crescendo once the drawing was finished...That was one of the most beautiful things I'd ever heard. There were around 5 or so different versions.

                        I want to say thank you, everyone, for sharing your memories in this priceless thread! I am 34 and grew up in Asia, and my mom loves to credit SS for helping me learn American English. I have many vivid and also many fuzzy memories from SS, it was so much fun being reminded of them from the many wonderful posts so far!

                        No one’s mentioned “That’s About the Size of It.” It’s a wonderful song set to animation, all about comparing big and small. I remember there being a snail. For some reason, this stands out for me most of all. I agree with the few of you who said there ought to be a service where you can order certain SS episodes or segments, much like how you can buy digital song downloads. www.Youtube.com and http://members.tripod.com/Tiny_Dancer/index2.html are good resources. How great to hear and see The Alligator King, The Ladybug Picnic, the pinball numbers, The Martian Cutie. I also rediscovered the Fairy Alphabet, which is magical and haunting. It’s funny the weird details that you remember from your childhood.

                          I can't remember the name of the skit, but I can describe it. There's a ball rolling down this track with caliope music playing, and it runs into three of the same objects as a kid counts to three with each hit. At the end, the ball enters a box, and out come three cherries that top three sundaes, which then go, conveyor belt, to the kid doing the counting for her to eat.

                            I think that's hilarious, too! I think the magic of SS was in how they put all this educational entertainment for kids within the framework of a grownup world. Like, as time went on I began to realize that the episode sign-off of a voiceover announcing that the episode was "brought to you by" a couple of letters and a number mimicked the idea of actual sponsorship of shows by a product or company. Or take Kermit's news segments or guy Smiley's game shows. Very wink-wink, tongue in cheek.

                                  One thing that really sticks out is the old ending of sesame street where barkley is running from the kids and hides behind a tree and it was so funny at the time because he actually fit behind the tree.

                                  Twidlebugs i miss those.
                                  GUy smiley..my dad used to call me "smiley" all the time.

                                  "everybody sleeps" that song used to and still does make me feel weird.

                                  God elmo was so insignificant back then I don't even remember him, but it says he has been around since the 80s lol.

                                  Forgetful jones LOL i remember when he was in "oklahoma!" and couldnt remember the words so they had to keep yelling "cut!".

                                  So many memories..i have christmas eve on sesame street on dvd. When I got it i watched it four times that day. It makes me sad because that was right before mr hooper died and im like wow i wasnt even BORN yet at that point but that stuff still aired when i was little in the 80s. And yes they all did look sooo young. I think Maria was like 25 or something.
                                  I have Follow that bird to. "one little star" and "blue bird" were sad songs.

                                    Whoa, that skit actually existed! It's been years since I've seen an episode of Sesame Street, but for some reason I always remembered that song. I can finally assure myself that I did not dream this segment up!

                                    Many folks have mentioned the Sesame Street Xmas Special. Refresh my memory: is there a part where Big Bird is sitting on the roof, and it's snowing? I seem to recall that the grown-ups finally convince him to come in, and ice is hanging from his beak, and he's shivering and sneezing.

                                    And Follow That Bird...oh yeah, I remember that. I'm almost ashamed to admit this, but I still remember many of the songs they sang in that movie.

                                        Yes, there was. I think he was talking to some pigeons outside, and it was very dark out there. I also saw the colored circles sketch with the Phillip Glass-ish music on the special!

                                          yep, big bird was up on the roof at one point trying to see how santa gets down the chimney. Also the very begining all of them ice skating and feliz navidad playing. It was great LOL god bert ernie and cookie monster and the count looked so huge trying to jump those barrels.
