I heard that they are trying to make it, Harold Ramis, Bill Murray and Ernie Hudson are all up for it apparently, just Dan Ackroyd hasn't come round, I don't know why they didn't do it earlier, while they we're younger. I think the aging ghostbuster gimmick might work though. I'm not sure whether flashy movie effects will ruin it, they should use stop frame animation and all that like the other two movies. Old School! :D

That would be very interesting. They'll probably have kids since they're all older, and have their children take their place or something. You know how this sequel movie forumlas go! I agree, they should've done this back in the day.

I think some time in the late 90's early 00's, they had an updated cartoon on where the "aging" ghostbusters did take on the new recruits. And it was about the 8 of them (well 9 including Janine I guess) fighting the ghosts. It was a pretty lame cartoon...but then again in my opinion most cartoons past 1997 were pretty lame.

I almost think I'd rather see the original cast do it and make their ages part of the joke. It's not like they are over the hill....besides movie makeup can do wonders haha.

Actually it was the other way around. I've been following this closely, I'm somewhat of a ghostbusters fanatic. Dan Aykroyd is the only one in the group that wants to do a 3rd movie. Bill Murray, in fact, is VERY against it. He refuses to take any part of a new movie. Aykroyd has tried over and over to get this movie into production, but no other cast member wants to do it.

This whole thing fell through in 2000, it's pretty much dead. I wouldn't get your hopes up for a new movie because I just don't think it'll ever happen. Not for a long time at least... I'm sure someone will look for quick profit and make another movie that comes out horribly. *cough* Thunderbirds *cough* Scooby Doo *cough*

Bottom line, the movie Aykroyd wanted to make is dead. He had exhausted all of his efforts.

I think Ramis would have to pay Bill Murray a lot of money to do go back to Ghostbusters, especially after "Lost in Translation" and "Broken Flowers" besides ther're all too old now. Maybe if it was about a Ghost Buster Accademy and they all trained new recruits in an apocolyptic world where supernateral oogy-boogey run amok in the streets, that might work.

This should be based on "Extreme Ghostbusters"!
