Yes, thats fair enough. When I'm your age, people will probably be saying that 00s were Retro, and I'll say, No, 1999 and older.
Me too. It actually took me until about late 2004 or early 2005 to realize the '90s were retro. It'll probably be even longer for me with the '00s being retro next decade.

That still won't change my mind, Mario_Madness. Maybe in 2010 I'll change my mind but that's like a few years away so until then in MY book, the 90s ain't retro.

The reason i feel the 90's were retro is because i was super young and either wasn't allowed to watch alot of the shows, or haven't seen them in years so i guess i they aren't retro their a seperate catagory, nostalgia.

Yeah, that's the correct phrase. When I feel nostaglic for the 90s (not often) I like to think of the good rap and rock music we had during that time period and some of the cartoons.

the actuall meaning of retro is.
Involving with, relating to, or reminiscent of things past. from the word retrospective. so if last week something special happened and you are`looking back at it. it's retro.
i think going by years or decades is foolish.
It can make sense in a way, but I think a better way to put it might be that something becomes retro after a few phase changes (think for example when the first Discmans came around that had anti-skip, and now we have digital audio players like iPod, etc). For game consoles, I'd probably say 2.5 generations (around 13 years). Music: Hmm... Maybe 10 years. Movies: don't really know there. TV shows: around 8--12 years minimum if I had to decide.

Personally I think once computers became more advanced and we just stopped working with other things altogether is exactly when something is not retro. Once the digital age began, the retro period ended.

Id say whenever something becomes out of style or no longer in common use. Phone booths are retro because when is the last time you've seen one? Maybe 20 yrs ago? Cassette tapes are retro since people have been using CDs and now Ipods or digital media.

By that logic something could be just a few years old and be "retro". Retro should be something that teenagers in general don't remember.
