In your opinion, how old does something have to be to become retro? 20 years? 10 years?

      I'd say 20 years.

17 years minimum. Everything after that isn't retro in my book.

15 years and it has to have stopped. Which is why the simpsons isnt retro even thought it started in 1989.

Crazy as it is, anything older than 1999 is retro in my book.

Hmm, I think something has to be 10 years old to be retro, but thats just my opinion.

Well, I consider retro anything up to about 1997. I just don't consider the late '90s retro.

Yeah, that could work. But calling 1997 is like calling DVD players Retro, because thats when they came out  .

right. if something lives on and it hadnt any down time its not retro. isnt that what we love/hate most, the time missed in between. we hunt for the show/movie/song with a passion. i still think 10 years though, since many things a decade ago had fallen off the face of the earth and are slowly resurfacing

I think 10 years is a good time to call something retro. If its 20 years, then we can't call the Super Nintendo retro, so yes, 10 years.

Unfortunately, 10 years isn't considered retro to the naked eye. Us Retro Junkies are the only ones who can see it.

I'd say at least 15 years.

About 10-12 years... 1996 could be the most recent year considered 'Retro'; however, to me 1997 is beginning to feel a little far from now too... The world was just beginning to advance that year (Popularization on internet usage, DVD Players, Older shows going off the air, etc.), but we were still using DOS-Based PCs (Windows 95,98,ME), and playing stuff like Black and White Gameboys and Super Nintendos (This was the final year it was purchaseable)

10 years sounds fair to me, 96/97 or earlier was when a lot of the last cartoons we know and love on here began to fade away from the airwaves or stopped having new episodes. this time also relatively coincides with the downturn of nickelodeon, although it hung on for a few good years maybe after this time. but yeah, minimum 10 i'd say

Yeah, people could still buy TMNT action figures during this time! :P

I got the Raphael Phoenix Armor Figure for my 4th Birthday, which was February 1997 (Was it still on TV in '97? That's what this site says, but many say it was 1996)

Goosebumps was still on Fox Kids in 1997.
