I'm going to have to say the early 90s. I grew up with Nickelodeon from 1979-1990. It used to have more variety but all of that was gone when Nickelodeon when corporate (Viacom buying them out, don't remember the year but it was probably 1991).

Now, the network is nothing more than a tween factory.

To me, it started sucking in the late 90's...maybe a little earlier. What makes it so bad these days is not only the fact that they show so much "tween" crap on it...but also that they play the same shows over and over again. I bet Sponge Bob comes on at least 5 times a day. That's what's really sad about TV these days - no variety.

Very true. Every time i flip by that channel, its either jimmy neutron, timmy turner, or spongebob (which used to be good, but isnt now, mainly due to the fact that it is overplayed, and redirected to appeal to a new generation)

Nick definetly had 3 eras. 80s (they were more independent network, less animation), 90s (more animation, viacom), and 2000s (dont get me started). Depending on when u grew up, youll like different ones. For me its the 90s.

Around 2000, when they pulled Rocko, KaBlam!, and other stuff, and CRAP started being pumped in.:( When I first got Nicktoons TV in Feb. 2004 on DirecTV, I was overjoyed at being able to see those shows again.:D September 2005: Nicktoons TV becomes "Nicktoons Network" and starts pumping in crap.
Man, I miss Nick and Nicktoons TV.

Hmmm, maybe early 2000s? Stuff like Spongebob was still being played and there were still re-runs of other shows.

[quote=NicksThaShi!][quote=marshmannes]It was in 1999 when many of the old shows went off the air.

That didn't happen until the last months of 1999. From January - September 1999, it was still great, but then here came the last 3 months. Things started falling apart fast.

How does Jimmy Neutron have racist stereotypes?

I have never seen the show, know practically nothing about it. But that is such an intriguing question I decided to look for an answer. Here somebody says

The ethnic kids are viewed as lazy and less than bright, including the manner in which they grudgingly agree to help.

Then there's the song played during their journey - 'we're the kids from AMERICA.' How interesting that they neither sought help from other nations nor were other nations able to help themselves.

The parents represented their neighborhood - in America, White Surburbia - and this was 'EVERYONE' ... at the very least the rest of the world / TV / Radio / etc ... should have continued on.

Not sure I understand the second part, but the first makes sense to me. Again I have never watched the show.
