I personally think that it fell apart in the late 1990's to the early 2000's.

I liked the early 1990's shows (Salute Your Shorts, Double Dare, Clarissa Explains It All, Are You Afraid Of The Dark) as well as the cartoons from that time period as well (Ren & Stimpy, Rocko's Modern Life, Doug, Rugrats).

The later 1990's shows I liked as well (CatDog, Ginger, All That, Kenan & Kel, Spongebob, Figure It Out, Angry Beavers, Hey Arnold, Wild Thornberrys).

A couple of the early 2000's shows were alright (Rocket Power, Fairly Oddparents, Invader ZIM), but when Chalkzone (or whatever that show is called) came about (same for Jimmy Newtron), I said to myself that Nickelodeon was therefore headed in the wrong direction, so I had lost interest very quickly and turned to the computer.

I was never really a fan of "Pete & Pete", "GAS", "Legend Of The Hidden Temple", but occasionally I would watch those since I hated Cartoon Network, Nickelodeon was the only channel that I would watch when I was young. No need to change it as my sister and I watched it almost all afternoon after getting home from school.

        EDIT :
Anyone here remember Gullah Gullah Island ? I watched it although I never really liked it, it, erm, was just too strange.

        - Mike.

Lol, he probably threw the Big Orange Couch out in the next Hard Rubbish.
P.S, I remember Gullah Gullah Island, I've now got the tune to it stuck in my head.

I'd say 98-99. Then shows like Rocket Power and I Told Ginger infiltrated the airwaves. The ideas that made Nick rise were gone and the cartoons became lamer to me. "Allthat" become horrid as new cast members were switched out and the comedy material wasn't good. And the live action shows I couldn't watch at all. I can still watch the older shows like "Clarissa Explains It All" or "Pete and Pete". But not the new ones. :(

I think it did sart to suck around 1999, thats the last time I remember them airing anything decent, and the "all that" cast was cool until 1999 as well.

In my opinion, it started to suck when they began showing Wild Thornberrys and Spongebob. So back in 97'-99'.

When they put Spongebob, every little kid was addicted to it. Now Nick plays Spongebob at least 30 times a day.

Nick deffinitly sucks now. They seriously need to make Nick Rewind now.

For me, it began to suck when Nick started to make their own cartoons. At first it was pretty cool to have some new stuff like Ren & Stimpy or Doug playing on the network, but a part of what Nick special all throughout the 80's was lost. That station that played all those cool and weird shows that were made all over the world. Before the 90s Nick had many shows that were made in the UK, France, Germany, Japan, and Canada. By the time Nicktoons caught on and expanded into many more original programming, those shows all but vanished. Now the network is just one big Tween factory, pumping out one forgettable show after another.

It would be unrecognizable to those of us who watched it 25 years ago.

The only show I actually go out of my way to watch nowadays is Mr. Meaty. That show is pretty amazing.

Yeah, it really doesn't look a thing like how some 80's stuff looked.

                                Dont go there...

I saw a few episodes and the puppets look very creepy and remind me of Klasky-Csupo drawings (a la AAAAHH!!! Real Monsters!) in puppet form.

I wish Nick would make a sister channel devoted to classic nick shows I grew up with, like Pinwheel, You Can't Do That on Television, Salute Your Shorts (I loved the theme song!) Doug, (before Disney screwed it up) and many others.

There are tons of old Nick petitions out their but online petitions really don't anything. People sign as fake names and fill the petitions up with dumb things. EX:I was on the "Take JETIX off of Toon Disney" petition the other day and that petition just went completely off-topic with all of the threats and cursing. Try writing letters, e-mailing them. But Viacom really don't care about Nick's past because if so, they would of made a Classic Nick channel by now.
