nintendoisawesome 9 years 3 months ago Posts: 94	hi. this may sound like a dumb question because mario 3 was one of the best selling games of all time, but does anyone else remember that when this game came out on the nes that they had to play it? I remember my brother and me would constantly try to rent this game out when we had the chance. my brother eventually got it for a christmas. I remember the mario 3 mcdonalds toys and the cartoon. I also remember the contest to win mario 3 in either chips ahoy or oreos cookies where you had to match up the thing that looked like an animation cell with a scene from the game on the pack of the cookie package (I had a post on this sight from months ago but I guess nobody rememberes it: please post if you do!) just curious if this game was a big deal to anyone else.

System 9 years 3 months ago Posts: 74809	I remember seeing glimpses of Super Mario Bros. 3 in Nintendo Power for more than a year before it was finally released. Then there was that our and a half long commercial for Nintendo that was released into theaters called "The Wizard" with Fred Savage. Super Mario Bros. 3 was definitely the pinnacle of Nintendo and the Mario franchise, and it couldn't have happened at a better time in video game history.

Shot King 9 years 1 month ago Posts: 617	I got it for my 4th birthday which, cool enough, was just a few days after the game came out (02/10/90). I wasn't very enthusiastic at first since hey, If I wanted to see some tubby guy in raccoon ears, I could just go to the local furry convention. >_> But after seeing my brother playing it with his friends and enjoying it, I decided to give it a try, and what ya know? It became one of my fave NES games of all times. Of course I sucked at it then though, but hey, it was fun. Some people call me weird, because aside from the gameplay and style that I was addicted to, I mainly play it cause of the Koopa Kids that were in it.

NickMania 9 years 1 month ago Posts: 1039	I uploaded an early 90's Commercial that was for Super Mario Brothers 1, 2, and 3 and it Begins with Kids Chanting Mario! Mario! Mario! Mario! Mario! Mario! Mario! Mario! Mario! Mario! Mario! Mario! and then it shows a Giant Mario Head over the Globe and then this guys voice says Super Mario 1, 2, and 3 and as each game is said that particular game falls into Place and then the guy says Nintendo Now Your Playing With Power Each Game Sold Seperately.

System 8 years 10 months ago Posts: 74809	When I got my SNES I remember there was a flyer that came with the system and if you sent it in with $5 you got Super Mario All Stars which has Mario 1, 2, 3 and The Lost World. I still have that to this day.

JCU 8 years 10 months ago Posts: 355	For all the years I have been playing video games, I can't remember a bigger frenzy than what was caused by SMB3. The hype that surrounded this game certainly lived up to expectations. The demand to rent this title before actual release was so great that I can recall renting a Japanese copy. Wonderful game indeed!

ninjamonkey 8 years 10 months ago Posts: 572	i rememberr getting this game when i was seven. it was for christmas and i got it with super mario brothers 2. i had the first one, so i was very lucky, since now i was the only kid in the neighborhood who had the super mario trilogy for the NES. in my own opinion, super mario brothers 3 is the best one ever and i loved that game. yes, it was a big deal for me , since i was poor and i didnt get games all that often. i beat the game about 5 months later, playing on and off since i was still in "outside" mode and played all the time outdoors. i tell you man, back then, things were different. 8 people would crowd the living room at my house just to play the nes and we would hold tournaments and video games sessions....that doesnt happen anymore...those were good times.
