I remember in 1989 being in kindergarten and we had a vote and I was 1 of 3 (there were about 20 of us) in my class to have a computer. My teacher said it would never catch on. How wrong was she.

I also remember this thing in 1989 called a card catalog. I try to explain it to the kids at the school I work at and they just don't get it.

I also remember Ninja Turtles. You know your a product of the 80s if you can remember the original Ninja Turtles

My favorite year of all time! I was born in 1978, so I have very fond memories of 1989.

I was ten, going on eleven, and the Super Mario Bros. Super Show Debuted on the USA Network and I watched it RELIGIOUSLY after a class mate of mine told me about it.

My family and I moved from Hawaii to Arizona that year. In fact, I remember the hotel, room number and day we flew from Hawaii. It was on Thursday, October 19th, 1989 and we were at the Waikiki Resort Hotel, in room 2009. YAY! ROOM 2009 will always be a part of my cherished childhood.

I got a Nintendo Entertainment System (8 Bit) on by 11th Birthday that year and we celebrated my birthday at my maternal grandparents' house before we headed off to Arizona.

      Good times, good times.

            That's why there's a "drinking age" and a "legal drinking age". :P

1989...I was a Junior in high school. HUGE hair, Aqua-Net, acid wash, Def Leppard's Hysteria, New Kids on the Block, getting lit on Sun Country wine coolers (they had 2 liter bottles so I shared with my friends)...
Seeing all the kids here born in the 80's I feel OLD, but the late 70's and the 80's were great times to grow up! I can remember a time where we didn't have cable, we still had LPs, the only computers were at school (well, unless you had that crazy Texas Instruments hook up at home) and things just seemed a lot more simple IMO.

Wow, I was born in 1976. I also suffer from CRS (can't remember shit). But it doesn’t help that all of the pictures my family took were on the original Polaroid’s so they are all warped. That and the fact that my mother was really young at the time and hopped up on something so she now she doesn’t remember much. But man i would have loved to have graduated in the 80's. Good times man, good times! Oh, and as for the "poll" on drinking- 1989 for me. [/quote]

The year 1989: I was 12 years old and enjoying the last moments of my childhood before I turned 13 years old in 1990. I was in 7th grade at the time. 1989 was the last good year for cartoons for me. I was also skateboarding a lot. I started buying CDs during that time as well. And I was watching FOX shows like The Simpsons, Married With Children, 21 Jumpstreet and others.

                      I miss the 1980s.

I was born in early 1985. And the funny thing is I was born between the release of Ghostbusters movie in 84 and the year before The Real Ghostbusters cartoon in 86 came out. That was awesome time to born and I was able to watch most of things that were on Tv and that as well. I also missed the 80s period, too.

also i think the 80s are so Rad.

I agree, 1977-1994 were some great years. The 1980s are cool, but I sorta prefer the 1990s since I actually remember them.

Bleach is new. It wasn't released in 1989. The manga (which came first) began publication in 2001. You may be confusing Bleach with Akira.

If we're talking Nirvana's Bleach, their first album then yes, it was released in 1989. It came out June of that year.

Like Gusto, 1989 was also when I first bought cds. My family had their cd player for about half a year before 1989.

1989 was when I discovered the Who, I heard Pinball Wizard on the radio and saw a profile on tv about how they kicked off their reunion tour at the CNE in Toronto.

I was born in 1980 so I was nine in 1989. I can't remember much about the shows on tv or the music I liked then but I remember a couple important things on television - the fall of the Berlin Wall...

And the Tiananmen Square incident/massacre - particularly "the man and the tank".
