System 9 years 3 months ago Posts: 74809	The Game Over screen from the SNES Mighty Max game scared the bejeezus out of me. It was an incredibly frightening picture of Skullmaster with a lot of shadows and red lighting. Scary as hell.

kryptoknightmare 9 years 3 months ago Posts: 122	Friday the 13th for NES was a really scary game back then. During the game, a little screen would show that Jason was attacking one of the other camp counselors, and you had to run and get back there in time before Jason murdered them. I think there was a countdown and everything. It was intense. And then there were those lovely moments when Jason appeared out of nowhere (even popping up out of the lake) with sudden scary sound effects and music and try to kill you with a blood soaked machete (and all you have is like, a rock). Don't get me started on fighting his mother's head.

System 9 years 3 months ago Posts: 74809	i agree with the Friday the 13th NES choices. I was petrified of Jason when I was little. I wouldnt close my eyes in the shower because I knew thats when Jason was gonna kill me. I played the NES game once, Jason popped out of nowhere, scared me to death, and I never played that one again.

It was so scary at the time that I rean screaming into the kitchen . and when ever I went to play it , I had to have another person in the room with me. Nowadays It's not so bad

System 9 years 3 months ago Posts: 74809	When you're a little kid it's easier to really get into the video game you're playing. When you get a little older, even when you're playing video games that are designed to be scary, you just don't get the same heart-pounding excitement you would if you were still little. I remember being scared by the red dragon in Adventure (Atari), and in Haunted House (also Atari) anytime my match went out.

mikee_kid12 9 years 3 months ago Posts: 640	Whatever happened to games that were so hard yet so fun that turned your ears red and made your heart beat hard and fast. Super Nintendo and Sega really did that to me, and although I still love video games, they just don't make them how they used to.

System 9 years 3 months ago Posts: 74809	I agree with mikee_kid12. Games today seem a lot easier than they used to, and not just because I'm a better player than I was when I was younger. Of course, I think a lot of us here are old enough to remember when most games didn't have endings -- they just kept getting harder and faster until they met your skill level, which meant that any game you played would end up being as hard your 1000th time as it was the 1st time. It just took longer.

System 9 years 2 months ago Posts: 74809	Scariest game: Resident Evil 2. But the scariest moment I ever encountered was in the most benign of games: Super Mario 64! When you get right down to it, I like to think I'm a pretty brave dude. But sharks...forget about it. 'Cuz you only ever bump into a shark when you're in their territory! I was playing the pirate ship level on M64, swimming around all free and giddy-like. I wasn't suspecting a thing, and BAM!!! I rolled over face to face with that ginormous eel-sea creature-thing! I was like 15, and still I about soiled myself! If there had been a freakin' picture or something, I would've known to avoid the thing. But no, they've gotta go saving the surprises for you! I felt like I was 7 again. It was awesome! And it was cruel! Thanks again, Nintendo! ______________________________________________________ C O R ! ! C R U M B S , C H I E F ! ! !

System 9 years 2 months ago Posts: 74809	Ooh, speaking of water, that's one thing that freaks me out. Or, for you English majors, water is one thing for which out I am freaked. Not just any water, mind you -- I have no problem taking a shower or drinking a nice glass of ice water with lunch. But submerging even the tiniest toe on my body into [u]opaque[/u] water scares me. I haven't been able to swim at the lake since I was a little kid, and the thought of hanging my legs in the water while I fish scares the bejeesus out of me. While it was the 90's, so not quite in Retro Land yet, and I wasn't really a kid by then, when Star Wars: Shadows of the Empire came out for the N64, it seemed very realistic at the time. So when I got to the sewer level, where you are forced to swim through green sewer water where you can't see more than a couple meters in any direction and there are monsters swimming around in there with you, that scared me as much as the first time a zombie jumped through a window to get me in another of our favorite games. The eels in Super Mario 64 scared me, too.

Jesus_crysus 9 years 2 months ago Posts: 1289	has anyone play drakkhen for the super nintendo Things That Scary The Crap Out Of Me In The Game 1. ill be walking down a path and a giant dog head looking thing would pop out off no way 2. ill be walking around and this big flying head would attack me and the fight would go on forever (i once fell asleep for like half an hour in the middle of fighting the big flying head and i woke still fighting it) 3. the runnig away from fight were the worst ever ( u had to make each character run one by one like u dont run like in most RPGs, by the time u get all of your guys out 2 are dead) 4. random things popping out of no way but the big flying heads and the giant dog face scared the crap out of me i highly doubt i would be able to play that game now
