I guess it really depends on what years you were technically a kid and were at the highlight of the Saturday morning craze. I think the schedules provided are really helpful. They provide the year, network, and even time your favorite cartoons were on.

So who's the winner in my opinion? Actually it was a really tough choice because my favorites are scattered. But CBS carried Muppet Babies, PeeWee's Playhouse, and of course the grand daddy of Saturday mornings: Garfield and Friends.

But some who get extra recognition are WB who had some great sunday morning cartoons and FOX who had some excellent weekday morning/afternoon cartoons. I'm trying my darndest to look for old television schedules but it's hard.

I will agree with Toonaspie by saying it definitely does matter on what year you are talking about. For me it would have to be NBC. I watched at least one cartoon on every channel when I was growing up, but to me NBC had more than the others. NBC had Spiderman and Freinds, Incredible Hulk, Alf, Mr.T, Back to the Future, Fraggle Rock, and Captain N and the Game Masters. All channels had great cartoons, a very hard poll to decide on in deed.

Hi. I'm new. Nice to meet everybody. Anywho, I'd have to say that
CBS had the best shows. Although, NBC had great shows too. The thing is I only got NBC and CBS growing up so I didn't get to watch other great shows like "The Real Ghostbusters" or "The Super Mario Brothers Super Show".

Now this is a very very hard choice. Even though the majority of what I watched was on CBS, I'm going towards ABC...then again, Smurfs came on NBC, my very first cartoon...but I'll have to go with CBS on this one. Muppet Babies and The Get Along gang made me choose it. lol

I'll have to agree. Early to mid-80's, NBC was where it was at.

I was always pretty loyal to CBS. Muppet Babies, Garfield, Ninja Turtles...though when I was really little I watched ABC too, I just don't remember which shows. I think probably the Looney Tunes stuff.

They all do in my opinion. I loved ABC's pre-OSM Saturday Morning block. One Saturday Morning is ok but I only liked Pepper Ann and 101 Dalmatians. I missed Sonic, Cro, Reboot, Darkwing Duck, Goof Troop, Wild West C.O.W.B.O.Y.S. of Moo Mesa, The Bugs and Tweety Show and others. I love FOX kids, I watched it every Saturday (and sometimes on the weekdays). NBC had great shows like The Smurfs and Captain N. Syndication also ruled. Disney Afternoon rocked hard. CBS had Garfield and Friends, Ninja Turtles and others. Kids WB also had great shows (pre-Pokemon days) I was hooked on cartoons as a kid and tween. Nowadays, I see nothing but news and talk shows on Saturdays. TV is so boring these days.

When it came to Saturday morning cartoons in the '80s, at least in the Los Angeles area, CBS was the worst. I remember their programming was preempted most of the time by sports. So, I watched NBC and ABC instead.

In the 80s, it was CBS all the way

Dungens and Dragons, Muppet Babies, Pole Position, Saturday Supercade, Richie Rich, Charlie Brown and Snoopy Show, Get Along Gang, Wuzzles, Berenstain Bears, Hulk Hogan's Rock 'n' Wrestling, Hello Kitty's Furry Tale Theater, Garfeild. Whew!

Captin Kangaroo, Inhumanoids and Robotix were the pre 8:00 AM shows in my town.

I know! They use to show Hello Kitty like at 6AM. That's why it sucked living in the Pacific time zone. ABC was prempted a lot too, by Pac 10 football.

In the 80's it was definitely NBC!!! ALthough Abc did have the Plastic Man cartoon.

I'd say it would have to be the three indie stations that ran syndicated cartoons in my area: KSTW, KTZZ, and KCPQ. Now all of them are second and third rate 'network' stations that for the most part no longer run cartoons except on weekends. UPN, WB, and FOX, respectively. Sad.

Disney. A LOT of good children's shows came on that I remember like "Tailspin", "Bonkers", the curious George cartoons that came on during something called a "Lunchbox" hour, etc. Used to be a fun channel-great memories!

Personally, I always jumped around, so saying one network was better than the others is sort of ludicrous for me. For the most part, there were 13 episodes of each show that aired for an entire year, so when I'd catch a rerun, I'd switch over to something else that I hadn't seen yet. As a result, I became familiar with nearly all of the shows on those '80s schedules.

God, I miss Saturday morning cartoons!!

CBS was always number one with me. Watching the hour long version (well 44 minutes but you get the idea) version of Garfield and Friends was a regular Saturday ritual for me. Sometimes I'd switch over to ABC for Bugs Bunny and Tweety or NBC for a bit of Disney fix but I was mostly all about CBS.
