After more than two months the Halloween season has spirited me into writing the next part of my tribute to horror movie video/poster art. Anyone have any suggestions? Preferrably movies released before '96. The more the better. I want to make this one big honking beast of an article. Some that I already have planned are Deadly Spawn, Link, Monkey Shines, Knightriders, XTro, Bleeders, Breeders, and Puppet Master 3.

I'm planning on doing Puppet Master 3 (it's my favorite) and Subspecies is a great one to.

I've read your previous articles and loved them, but I can't remember all the movies you've already used.

Some that I can think of, off the top of my head:

        Critters
        Hellraiser
        Night Breed
        Ghoulies
        House
Faces of Death (this is a good one, as the box arts were of Reaper-esque characters and didnt quite allude to what the films were actually about)
        Grotesque
        Tremors
        Return of the Living Dead
        Stepfather
        Silent Night, Deadly Night
        Jaws
Night of the Living Dead 1990
        Serpent and the Rainbow
        Dolls
        C.H.U.D.
Night of the Creeps (good news, youre date is here..bad news is, theyre dead! CLASSIC!)
        Shocker

I could go on and on, but instead I'll reference you to a couple of sites that focus on reviewing B-Movies and tons of them are Horror films. Alot of the reviews include original box arts, so you can snag pics and get brief synopsis of the movies at the same time. Good Luck, and I look forward to reading your article.

100 misspent hours is probably one of your better bets, but there is goodness to be found on all these sites:

I agree with you on Night of the Creeps. Critters and Ghoulies were already done. House was done too I think. If you are going to use a creepy shot for the Xtro cover. Go to my VHS group on Yahoo Groups. The front for the first print of the tape is pretty creepy. The later prints are lame and just show a pic of the "alien". The first print is hard to describe without looking at it. You will only find it there because I could not find the thing anywhere else.

If you browse some of those site links and look for "Night of the Creeps" you'll actually find that the film was released with at least 2 different North American box-arts.

One is of a Male dressed in a tux, standing in a doorway facing you. He has a bouquet of roses in his right hand. Perfectly normal, except for the fact his face is rotting off.

The other is of a similar "picking up your prom date at their house" scenario, but the view is angled so that you see both the back of the guy at the doorway, and the face of the girl being picked up. Behind the guy in the doorway is a crowd of Zombies.

I think there is a 3rd version, but with subtle difference, which I think replaces the classic "Good news, youre date is here...." with something less awesome. /shrugs

The one I have seen is the first one mentioned. It is lableled as HBO/Cannon Video.

Man, you guys have some good taste. Thanks for all the suggestions.

marshmannes, thanks for all the links. They'll come in handy. The only one I knew about was Stomp Tokyo which is a friggin' awesome site. www.badmovies.org is another that you may want to check out.

Don't credit me, credit Cig Smoking Man. He had most of the sites listed. Badmovies is a pretty good one. It gives plenty of information on what to look for on your favorite B-movies. There is another one with a similar style to this when I was typing "shark roar the revenge" (Referring to the roar of the shark in Jaws the Revenge). This one oddly had Conan 1 and Robocop 1 and 2.

Oh, your right. Missed that. Thanks for the links CIG SMOKING MAN. I'll look for that "shark roar" site. It's wierd but that was my favorite film in the series. Gotta love the idea that a shark can exact revenge on specific people. Not sure why they'd include Robocop as a bad movie. I could see Conan being on that list, though. Not much better than Deathstalker in my opinion. But that's just me.

There is also a poster version which is by far my favorite (though I like them all). It has a boy and girl on a porch fighting off hordes of the zombie/alien things. I may just list all three in the article.

Jaws the Revenge is a guilty pleasure. The site mentioned does not have too much, but I still like the Badmovies.org style.
