For example; I almost purchased an old Power Rangers bed spread from the Salvation army simply because it was the ORIGIONAL Power Rangers, but then thought better as I realized that more than likely there were hundreds of pee stains on it.

So. Stuff you've considered buy or have bought simply because it was retro, and not 'cause you liked it?

Constantly. I love searching through eBay for retro toys (preferrably in their original boxes/packaging). About a week ago, I almost threw down a little over $250 for an unopened original Empire Strikes Back AT-AT that even came with the Toys 'R' Us receipt.

I know sometimes I'm so tempted to buy stuff at my local thrift store. I bought a bunch of old retro books I never read. I bought 2 Garfield books, a Pac Man book and a Care Bear book. (90s care bears). They are just collecting dust in my book shelf.

One time I bought some He-Man gum because it was retro. Then I ate some. And made an article! That was bad, bad, day for my stomach.

I also have a Garbage Pail Kids pin in a drawer someplace and a bunch of videos of stuff I never watched. I bought a video of old old black and white Gigantor just cuz it was sooo... old.

haha yeah i went to buy a nintendo 64 at game exchange because my brother took ours to college and I've been considering buying the Atari that they have there, just because it doesn't cost that much, 30 dollars I think, and its retro. I havent decided whether to buy it or not though.

yea I buy retro stuff all the time. especially the whole old vhs copies of 80s cartoons thing....but I'm cutting down. I passed up a great pound puppies vhs the other day. although is it still kinda sad I did force myself to buy the old original vhs version of labyrinth even though I own the dvd so I could compare the differences in how they looked? I mean sometimes things just look cooler(i.e. more retro) when viewed on their original format. well, ok so the beta was first but oh well. god i'm a nerd. but thats ok cuz I'm a hot nerd  lol...at least thats what I keep telling myself.

I have my Labyrinth on DVD and VHS, too. I also have the original "Into the Labyrinth" making of thing on VHS, even though that's on the DVD too.

Pics or stfu. Just kidding. :D But seriously. Pics.

Back on topic, I buy all sorts of crap just because it's old. The thing that really pisses me off is that thrift stores and the toothless carnies at flea markets now think that anything vintage or retro is worth lots of money, so they overcharge. I was at a market yesterday and found a stall with a longbox of old ratty comics, and as I was looking through the guy came up behind me (a bit too closely for my liking) and said "All of them are three bucks, don't worry about the prices on the covers". Yeah, because I really thought I was going to be paying the newsstand price from 1984.

And VHS, don't get me started on VHS. I still buy lots of old tapes, but I rationalise it by thinking that when the shows in question come out on DVD, or I can find a decent quality bootleg, I'll sell the tapes on eBay.

I know I was in this store that was selling vintage/retro stuff and they had metal lunchboxes from the 80s and 70s and they were like $30-$60 and they weren't even in good condition they had bad rust and most of them had no thermos.

I'm the typical Star Wars buyer which is really unoriginal, I know. My 2 favorite finds are a stormtrooper yo-yo and a Chewbacca pez. My brother's retro pick is Mr. T, which I have to admit is cooler and he finds some good stuff, like his A-Team lunch box and the old action figure.

I bought the original Evil Dead, even though I knew it wasn't exactly fantastic.

I also grabbed Arcade classics 1 and 2 (Midway) for the PS2, even though, again, they're aren't much fun to play past half an hour.

But I still watch Transformers the movie occasionally, even though I'm aware it's just a glorified toy ad... much like the phantom menace I guess...

Yes I'm always tempted but then stop myself. My biggest weakness is items of retro metal from the Iron Maiden/Juda Priest days.
