anyoen remember when we didn't have th einternet, all we had were bbs's??

The best ones were those that had trade wars, farwest trivia, a nice chatroom, islands of dawn 2, search for the magic orb, legend of the red dragon.

plus i'd download nudy pictures, i rememebr one picture taking 15 minutes on my 2400 baud modem. then wehn 14.4 then 28.8 came out DAYUM i was blazn!

my favoruite machien of all time was my quickdos set up, using telnet, to sign in to bbs to play onlinegames, download pron and download dos games like prince of persia.

      Heck yeah!

A friend of mine introduced me to the wonderful world of BBSing in 1987, though I didn't get into it until I got my first modem in 1994.

I used BBSes up until 1995, when I started using the Internet more. Actually met a lot of folks via BBSes, many of whom I still keep in touch with today! Hack n' slash was a fun game too, as was Space Empire (probably my fave)

EDIT: Woohoo! As of this post, I just hit Retro Junkie status! :D

I used to go on one that was all kids from my area. We would chat and then could meet up places. I remember if you typed in short forms like rofl...it would write it out like "Outsider is rolling on the floor laughing". And you could do a bunch of other stuff. There was also a game on it where it would save your points...it was some kind of fantasy adventure game...I forget what it was called. Once the internet became popular, I think it disapeared.

            yea majormud is awesome!

you can still logonto any bbs using your buil tin telnet in xp. yo ujust need to know the ip for it, and it will sign you in. there are lists of bbs's with their ips, just google it.

i still play legend of the red dragon sometimes.

i'd love to play tradewars or farwest trivia, but i cannot fidn any one who hosts them free. usualyl they charge a grip to play them for some reason.

I downloaded countless shareware and public domain games from dial-up BBS systems back in the day. I briefly tried playing Wastelands, but quickly got bored with it.

My all-time favorite has always been Hack 'n' Slash! I'd use my Amiga 600! speaking of which, anyone know of any Telnet sites that support H&S?
