Me and a bud of mine still jam just about every week, and I usually end up hosting the matches. Our usual game time is around 7pm (pst). Any takers? Might be fun to play with some fellow retro junkians. *You'll need the Winter Assault expansion, and a (cough) legit cd key for Gamespy.

Predaking 8 years 3 months ago Posts: 920	Funny you mentioned, I just got the game about 2 weeks ago on recomendation from 2 of my coworkers but I'm having a hard time getting into it especially cause I'm used to warcraft III: The frozen throne.

System 8 years 3 months ago Posts: 74809	Actually, a squad can be reinforced with or without a commander. The turrets used to be a joke for DoW as well, but since some balance issues have been tweaked in later patches, an array can make for pretty effective defense (granted they're not to hold back an entire legion).

System 8 years 3 months ago Posts: 74809	Yeah, moral is a very important factor in the game (another reason why I dig it). I don't usually send in vanilla squads unless I'm rushing. In addition to turrets and mines, whirlwinds, basilisks and looted tanks can turn an infantry charge through a defense field into a suicide run. Online play is where the real fun is. The AI is just too predictable. Nothin' beats a human opponent. We also use the community map packs (some of them are downright awesome). http://www.bitcheswithglitches.com/dow/mappacks/

System 8 years 3 months ago Posts: 74809	I'll need to check it out tonight. Yeah, the auto-detect for DoW and WA always seemed to "play it safe" with me too. I'm running a P4 3.2 Prescott with 2GB Ram and a BFG 7800GS OC (256MB). With everything cranked, minus unit occlusion for it's lame factor, all is well.

System 8 years 3 months ago Posts: 74809	Yeah, I didn't find the pathfinder squads very useful. Those guys fell if you looked at 'em crooked. The stealth units had virtually no offensive capabilites. SM scouts would have no problem tackling them. Quite a bit was locked out of the demo. I would have loved to get a little taste of the Necrons.
