Well I haven't posted anything on the net of inter for a while, so I entered a contest on Deviant art held by one of the members there. She's got some really cool characters so I decided to try my hand at making a piece for the contest.

The rules are that we artistically mix music and one of her characters in a piece. Well I have a good song called "Miles Apart" by Yellow Card that gave me this image.

It's one of her characters Visyuki (the light blue dragon) racing with one of my original characters Hanna (the green anthro-ish dragon thing). I have one of her characters the blue cat Kae and another of my characters Kray (yes I know, he's my mascot), cheering on their favorites.

My digital coloring skills suck compared to hers, but I'm working on it. This piece took me about 8 hours to finish so I had to post it in a few places.

    Anyway here it is, Enjoy.

    ::UPDATE:: I took 3rd place whoohoo ^^

This is what bad digital coloring looks like?!?

Like hsmith98, I know absolutely nothing about digital coloring, but it looks pretty sweet to me. Could you provide a link to an example of what you consider good digital coloring so I can compare?

Thanks for the compliments everyone. I am too much of a perfectionist for my own good sometimes.

I try to hold myself to a pretty high standard.

Sure, here's some good ones I've seen recently:

This one is the original picture that I drew her (the judge of the contest) character from:

And a couple from some other really great artists:

                Finally some recent work!

It would beat the hell out of anything on TV today.

This one is definately my favorite.

Are those original characters, or are they from some cartoon?

How I wish I could say that something that good was mine, but alas no.

Those are original characters designed and illustrated by some professional comic book artists that hang around on the net and at the sketch Tavern. (A forum focussed on artist community.)
I believe Cheeks Galloway (Illustrator of the comic Book series "Teen Titans Go!") is the designer of those characters for his own series, and this particular version of them was made by, er... Chamba, a comic book artist with a very unique style as well.

These guys are some talent, they always inspire me to do better.

                      They're inspiring to me too.

God, seeing this stuff makes me feel like drawing again...
