Anyone who grew up during the 80's would realize that no other game system could beat the memories of original nintendo since it was the first GOOD side scrolling game system to come out. Sure snes had better graphics, but the objective had been done. Anyone can argue atari had their shot, but the "oh, sh*t" factor couldn't compair. I'm sure that back then, kids were fighting and pulling for their chances at being the next player in the next round of space invadors or pong, but that excitement couldn't compare to the first contra game, or even to the immortal mario bros. Nintendo paved the way by adding the fun factor into video games. I mean, come on, who the hell wanted to play pacman forever?? Where the hell did pong take us? All the GOOD games were originated through nintendo. It's why zelda and maro bros. are still the focus of many new games. I know, I know, but pacman is still out there too. I didn't say atari was bad, did I? Through nintendo, we experienced nintendo power magazine, game genie, a zapper, extra controller buttons, the powerglove (which my parents weren't able to afford so I never had it), and so much more. Atari may have been out first, but it was nothing in comparison to nintendo's true, and very original, home video gaming experience.
