Haha, back when they did had dial tone thing. I watched Nick in the 90's, cause that's when I was a kid, but my older brother saw all this lol.

p.s. rustyshackleford01, you're right, the dial tone does make the bumper better. The dial tone just shows that it's pretty old xD

the phone beeps are used for switching out to a tv program. they only did it on some commercials, but mostly on nickelodeon.

Oh - and BTW... Old Nickheads like me will remember, The song playing in the BG had lyrics.

This was also the music used when they wen't off the air.

It's been 23 years, but I remeber the last line going something like:

    "Here's to you
And the things that you do

in my opinion, the phone beep makes the bump even better

    Damn, I miss that logo.

Correct me if I'm wrong, but I vivdly remember this bump playing when Nick would begin broadcasting for the day. Then came Pinwheel for like 6 hours...

And that dial tone... Alot of stations had those dial tones, back then. Supposedly, it was a signal to cable companies to start local commercials.

Ever since I was a young boy, I played the silver ball...

    Seems appropriate here, doesn't it?

why were the phone beeps used?

and i agree, the silver ball logo is better than the orange one. (current)

I think I like the "silver ball" logo better than the orange one. I've never really seen this before since I didn't have access to Nick until sometime around 1988.

This looks vaguely familiar. I probably saw it when I first started watching Nick back in 1981.

    Quote O' Matic
    • Louis: Where are we?
Lestat: Where do you think, my idiot friend? We're in a nice, filthy cemetery. Does this make you happy? Is this fitting, proper enough?
      Louis: We belong in hell.
Lestat: And what if there is no hell, or they don't want us there? Ever think of that?
      Louis: But there was...
