Reminds me of that Twilight Zone episode with Telly Savalas in it.

    "My name is Talking Tina, and I don't think I like you . . . "

Is she any relation to Chuckie?

I think the geek that 80sGuru mentioned is the Grandpa's assistant.

Oh my god! I remember begging and pleading for a Julie doll when I was eight or nine, and I got one for Christmas.

I still have it, too; it's in my closet and needs new batteries.

When I was a kid I never realized how creepy that commercial was.

also, why did they have to make commercials so dark and foreboding back then? in the 70's and 80's, there was a trend of making commercials that had serious dark qualities, whether it be lighting, or subject matter, like they wanted to scare children into wanting the toys. Some of the commercials are enough to give adults nightmares but the kids (at least i know i did) seemed to turn out alright. can we say subliminal advertising boys and girls? good! i knew you could!

and btw, in the commercial, there's this idiot geek with absoultely no reason to be there, they had to add him into this atrocity, when just the grandpa and little girl would have been creepy enough?

I swear, i was expecting the eyes of that doll to light a bright green or red and pea soup vomit to spew from her mouth! I never realized how fucking creepy that commercial was, i remember it from when i was young, and i wanted it (yes i am a guy, so sue me) just because it seemed that the doll could talk back to you, not realizing then that she was probably pre-programmed to pick up on key words you said. I looked in the stores for that doll, hoping to find a demo or something so i could see how itworked, but never found it. Then again, sometimes they would play a commercial back then a few times and not really have the goods they promised anyway, so she may never really have existed.

Beware!! I looked on Ebay for these freaky things..
they have them for $15 on EBAY- from reading
    the seller's description::

this doll sneezes, recognizes words, recognizes
your own voice, open and close eyes, and is
    extremely intelligent

I have this doll and it is still down in my basement...it will never see the light of another day. I do not remember this movie, but this doll will still give me nightmares for many years to come. What a generation, lets scare the crap out of the children.

Screams freaky all the way-- the doll's voice
sends chilld up my spine, and that voice over--
the children's line delivery , my god--
there is nothing pleasent about that commercial--i was surfing the web for for 80's retro commercials-
and found a doll that is equally freaky called
Light Up Doozer.. he lights up in the dark only, and his eyes are half shut...and the dolld voice.. you just have to see it!!! Hopefully it will be posted under the
80's commercials in a few days!!!

This doll could be chucky's wife!!!!

I wonder if the doll is REALLY that smart? If Chucky had a daughter, this would probably be her!
