Just to clarify the "Oddity" of this public service announcement "Spuds MacKinzie" was the dog, he was like the mascot for Budwiser, and there were plenty of stuffed "Spuds" dolls so eventually he was nixed (like Joe Camel) because he was appealing to younger people. As for the "Know when to say when" that was the start of the "Drink responsibly" campaign for alcohal, yet Anheiser/Busch trademarked the "Know When to say When" so no one else could use that to tell people to "drink responsibly". Coors also did a similar thing with their slogan "I'ts the right beer now" and changed it to "Know when it's the right beer now", I believe there was almost a lawsuit for that, yet I was a bit young to know what was going on. I do however remember the Spuds MacKinzie dolls and toys going around or being given out at carnivals and stuff.
