I remember this ad. It played like clockwork on every channel. It was WAY too friggin' corny.

Technically, this IS retro as it had been announced at Spaceworld 97 (around the time Star Fox 64 was relesed).

While this should not be considered retro, it is still a great game. However, it cannot hold a candle next to its predecessor, "Super Mario RPG".

Paper Mario is definitely retro despite its 2001 release. I mean two generations of gaming have surpassed it, so by association to N64 alone it’s retro. Besides it was far in development back in 1997 when it was first publicly revealed.

Even so, Paper Mario (AKA Mario Story) is a game from 2001. Therefore, it's not retro yet! Sure, it might be retro to the people who miss the days of Middle School (or High School), but it is not yet retro, and doesn't belong on the site.

Cool commercial, though. I remember wanting to play it even more after seeing it.

This is actually more complex than what one would think... Sure the game itself is from 2001. However its from a system that is very much retro though...
