Ford Escort 1986 (1980)

Worldwide sales??? I've never seen this type of Escort anywhere but America... They probably added the European Ford Escort in the numbers but it's a whole diffirent car.

B.T.W. I'm glad my 947kg/2083lb Ford Fiesta has powered steering. Otherwise you'd have a small car but it's still hard to park in small spaces (i.e. Amsterdam.)

I had an '89 a few years back. I drove it from 140,000 miles to about 166,000 miles. Good, dependable car. Engine was unencumbered with any accesories. Probably got better highway mileage than my '06 Scion xA. I looked at a Smart ForTwo at an autoshow. This one had power steering. What kind of idiot would pay extra for power steering on a 1800 lb car?

When I was a kid we had a dark red Escort like this with a sunroof. I remember it being really really basic, but it was still a solid little car. We used it as our 2nd car back then when my sister and I were growing up a little.
