Pacman was first released on may 22 1980 in Japan.

Later in 1980, the game was picked up for manufacture in the United States by Bally division Midway, which changed the game's name from Puck Man to Pac-Man in an effort to avoid vandalism to the letter 'P'. The cabinet artwork was also changed.

I turned 10 in 1978 and didn't recall Pac Man being around that early. So this "youngster" went to Wikipedia for more information. Pac Man was first released in Japan in 1980. The Atari 2600 version came out in 1982. I remember getting it for Christmas that year.

Yes, yes it is from the 1970's. Pacman was around in late 77 early 78 because I got one for my 5th birthday in 1978. I played that game till my ears bled and my brain oozed out my nostrils like jelly. If you are unsure, wikipedia can help you youngsters get more information.

This can't be from the 70s... Pac-Man didn't exist then. This would be, at earliest, 1982. More likely later.

My friend got one back in '77 and we used to stay up all night playing it. It cost $200 back then and I think cartridges were 20-30 dollars...A lot of money back then, comparable to a Wii or X360 in price (adjusted for inflation).

I want everything too! Oh, boy. I wished I had an Atari 2600. In fact there's a cart called AtariSynth which is a 2 voice synth/drum machine. Is AtariSynth cool or what!?

I still have a 2600, with 40 games. That version of Pac-Man sucked ass. Lame graphics and sound effects
