For the record, I do have the 3-minute full song downloaded. The responses I get when I stream that online is nothing short of hilarious.
acparson Posted 4 years 8 months ago
OMG, I never saw that one on TV, mainly because I'm a child of the 80's (81), but I do remember watching it on an old tape my Nana had, and my brother ran from the room. I just laughed, because it looked stupid.
omahanebraska Posted 4 years 8 months ago
Seriously, though, should you really have stuff that dangerous in your house?????
    NostalgiaCriticFan92 Posted 4 years 9 months ago
"Home is full of bad things that can hurt you very much"? Brilliant, writers. Make kids scared of their own freakin' house.

I remember when Mr. Yuk first came out in 1971. I was 5 years old and he was a big thing right off the bat. He was developed by "Children's Hospital" here in Pittsburgh. The first stickers had "Children's Hospital's Poison Center" number printed on it, later on, you had to fill it in. I've also known friends who used to deck out their bikes with Mr. Yuk stickers.

I wish they had this ad when I was a kid. Maybe I wouldn't have swallowed a whole bunch of vitamins when I was about 5.
Tiffanye Posted 6 years 4 months ago
I was--still am--sooooooooo scared of this PSA. I would run out of the room or close my eyes and plug my ears whenever it came on. The PSA itself, along with the music; FREAKED ME OUT! It was--still is--so creepy!
Videogamenerd Posted 6 years 7 months ago

'Get to know his face... in every single place.' That line makes him seem like a stalker. I have to say though, I'm glad they actually put your nearest poison center at the end of the commercial. In the first version, it just said 'Your local poison center', which would've been useless in an emergency.

    "Hello, Operator"
"Get me my local poison center"
    "Um, where are you?"
    "I... don't know!"

BlueSage Posted 7 years 7 months ago

    LOL ERRM

Mr Yuck appears to have dropped brown acid :P
Fyne T(oo)ning Posted 7 years 7 months ago
I mean, think about it. How is a character with a *mean* disposition supposed to set a good example for kids? (UH-OH! Did I just advocate a Conservative point of view? ((DREAD AND FEAR!!!)) )

Btw, did you notice the end part?:
    "RHODE ISLAND POISON CENTER"
I can already imagine Seth MacFarlane writing in a Mr. Yuk reference for an upcoming "Family Guy" ep:
Stewie crawls over to the cabinet under the sink, opens the door to reach for some items intending to make some sort of explosive device, and discovers the Mr. Yuk label on one of the bottles he reaches for, then says,"WHAT THE DEUCE??? WHO IS THIS INFERNAL "MR. YUK", AND WHY DOES HE RELENTLESSLY DISCOURAGE MY INTEREST IN EVERYDAY HOUSEHOLD ITEMS???" lol.

Another example of how propaganda can be used to influence even the most impressionable minds. But that's not to say that the campaign didn't serve it's intended purpose well. Still, if you take a second look, you might think it was, well, pretty LAME, don't you think? ("MR. YUK IS ME-E-EAN...MR. YUK IS...GREEN!!!MU-HA-HA-HA-HA!!!!" =sic= ;P)
    live4marilyn Posted 7 years 7 months ago
(Sic) That is the most terrifying commercial I've ever seen. (Serious) However, it has no effect on me.

Mad about drumming 87 Posted 8 years 8 days ago
Now see, if Rob Paulsen had sung this, it wouldn't have freaked me out nearly as much. I shouldn't be watching this at 12:30.
Mad about drumming 87 Posted 8 years 18 days ago
