shiroihikari: Yes, you are correct. Discovision, Inc. was actually a joint venture between MCA and Philips, although it was MCA who cam up with the idea of a laser videodisc, and had made an early prototype player as far back as 1972, before they teamed up with Philips.

This site illustrates the history of DiscoVision quite well:

Discovision is so weird; I watched only 4 discovision cds because it wasn't popular since I was born in '92.

Hang on...I thought MCA was the one that made Discovision?

Anyway...this is one of the weirder logos I've seen. Nice music though.

This is the intro used on the beginning of some of the the very first laserdisc titles made by the company of the same name, Discovision, around 1978, when this intro was possibly made.

In fact, the laserdisc format was first referred to as Discovision, until around 1981 when Discovision (the company) went bankrupt and ended up selling all of its technologies to Pioneer, who then renamed it LaserDisc...

I actually have a Discovision disc (playable in my 1987 Pioneer CLD-1010) that has this very same intro on it at the beginning...
