Isn't this still on today? I hope it continues for years and years to come (instead of that stupid one of the robot and the dinosaur attacking the city).
Yes...he DOES have a lot of junk in the trunk. lol. *gasp* no clothes either!!! Maybe that's why they don't show this as often! ZE HORRA!

Probably the only TV commercial from the 70s that I ever saw on network televison, and not online. A true classic.

This commercial has played for as long as I can remember. Rightly so, seeing as it first aired in 1970 (according to the comment above)

One of my favorite classic commercials...the little kid deserved it for interrupting the owl's nap!
*note how prominently his butt sticks out

I just researched, and the commercial first aired in 1970, and it continues to air today making it the longest-running commercial in history.
maglor Posted 10 years 6 months ago
It has a very 70s air to it, but I remember it playing circa 1989 when I watched Pinwheel at my aunt's house... It recently made a reapperance although

Actually it came out in the early to mid 70's and continued on playing through the 80's i believe.

I thought that commercail came out during the 60s, just because my Mom told me that she saw it when she was a kid.
dalmatianlover Posted 10 years 7 months ago
That commercial came out in the 80's? The oldness of it made me think it was 70's.

Boy: "Mr Turtle how many licks does it take to get to the tootsie roll centre of a tootsie pop?"?
Mr Turtle: "I ain't never made it without biting. Ask Mr Owl."
Boy: "Mr Owl how many licks does it take to get to the tootsie roll centre of a tootsie pop?"?
    Mr Owl: "Let's find out. 1, 2, 3. 3"
Male V/O: "How many licks does it take to get to the tootsie roll centre of a tootsie pop?"?
    [Crunch.]
Male V/O: "The world may never know."

And the world still doesn't know just how many licks it takes to get to the tootsie roll centre of a tootsie pop.

I've always thought it was funny. I Laughed every time the owl ate it after 3.

    Phantasmagoria_3D Posted 10 years 10 months ago
What I mean is, it's been aired since the 70s!
    Phantasmagoria_3D Posted 10 years 10 months ago
This is probably the LONGEST running commercial on T.V.
